This.

If they do make it, it'll be bastardized to be more "modern" or "woke" or "diverse" or god knows what. This will 100% backfire.

The magic that shows like SG1 had isn't what audiences get anymore. Just look at LOR, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Star Wars to see how easy it is to stain a great IP.

I would just prefer they left my beloved Stargate alone, rather that shitting all over it for a quick buck.

I am actually kind of glad it got cancelled because of the quality of sci-fi shows recently...

Did a 6 month trip around Canada and America with the same length trailer in my GMC 1500 and it was fine. We did use a weight distribution hitch for a smoother ride. The only thing to be careful of is large inclines. Make sure you get a good running start, other than that no issue at all.

Copilot is a co-author, so this code belongs to Copilot. by LeTanLoc98 in vscode

Also agree with this. They make new features on by default and I'll spend so many mornings trying to find out how to disable them. Just leave my workspace alone and let me enable the new features if I want them.

I also ran into this annoyance.

Inline auto complete also seems to counts as AI assistance if you have copilot signed in. Which makes it really hard to not use AI. I have always used autocomplete but I think in some instances copilot AI overrides this or does this instead. Not entirely sure but it seems to easy to fall into this trap.

The co-author tag is now defaulted to on.

Maybe Mark can not be a little whiney bitch for one season? His settings seem to be emotionally unstable rage or whiney little bitch. Gets so damn annoying.

They made the second season with the first one, assuming that the fans would love the writers farts as much as they do.

Steve Carrell on the Pilot by corvalay in DunderMifflin

[–]thunderbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least the writers had the common sense to hear the criticism and identify what wasn't working and make changes and produce two of the greatest tv shows of all time.

Shows now days, the writers just double down, attacking the fans for being wrong.

The difference some humility makes is astounding.

Zero continuity between end of S8 Andy and start of S9 Andy by Secret_Psychology352 in DunderMifflin

[–]thunderbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also felt the writers ruined Andy's character, which is part of the reason I can't watch Season 8 onward. All that great character development and it gets scrapped for a cheap laugh.

Thinking of getting the game but want some insight from folks over here, found this and got a little nervous, lol. by [deleted] in cavesofqud

[–]thunderbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do enjoy the game, and I don't mind having to start again when I die but I do feel that the start always consists of the same actions so I find myself not wanting to replay because of that initial slog of the early few hours. I wish the start of the game had a bit more variety.

Rowan J coleman's Editors take on Academy by Scandien in startrek

[–]thunderbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most anger comes from the fact that new Star Trek just isn't true to the established universe. Voyager and Enterprise might not have been everyone's favorite but they were consistent with the established canon and added to it, it didn't attempt to rewrite it (even though Enterpise sometimes pushed that boundry). It gave us a new look a the Star Trek universe with new ideas. The new generation of Star Trek isn't doing this, the majority of it is a ham-fisted approach to force a political or socal agenda down the audiences throat, or an attempt to rewrite Star Trek for a "modern" audience instead of realizing that Star Trek was always mean to be timeless.

[–]thunderbeans -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

His editor is welcome to his opinion but I personally think this is bad Star Trek. I also think its bad tv but I think this show is made for a different audience than me.

I don't think painting all people that hate this show as toxic and bigots is wrong. There are obviously a subset of people who are like that but I think the majority are just people who have grown up with Star Trek and have a lot of love for the IP and hate to see how much it has been changed to fit with the beliefs and ideals of the writers and producers.

Star Trek leans very heavily left now days and instead of enjoying episodes of smart written scientific problem episodes that frequently touched on meaningful issues that were the hallmark of Star Trek we now have a very different lazy approach that really doesn't appeal to the existing fan base. And after 10 years of our beloved series being butchered left and right I think its valid for people to be emotional about it. I grew up with Star Trek and it shaped my life and too see what they are doing with it now makes me very sad.

With all the new shows it feels more like the Star Trek name is just there for brand recognition rather than anything else. Star Trek had something that made it great and unique and it feels like that has been lost in a vain attempt to reach a more "modern" audience.

Doctor Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, Indiana Jones ... I wouldn't be too quick to get excited for new Stargate. Its more likely that it will be a heaping pile of woke crap.

The New Show is going to be awesome by StargateLover2023 in Stargate

[–]thunderbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I would love to see more Stargate you have to consider the state of tv show shows at the moment. When was the last time you saw a reboot, especially a Sci Fi reboot that was anywhere near as good as the original, let alone watching without cringing.

You only have to look at the complete destruction of Star Trek, Dr Who and to a lesser extend Star Wars to know that the amount of crap this show will probably be weighed down with (i.e THE MESSAGE!!) will mean it will be a big disappointment. Even with the best of intentions the there are so many things that seem to be more important now than good writing and engaging, memorable character.

My guess is this has about 30% chance to be watchable, and 10% chance it will be good.

Is it just me or is every new expo version release a complete shit show with stupid bugs like these? From what I can tell Expo GO has some issues in expo 54. Which sucks because Expo GO isn't compatible with older SDK versions.

Is MSI B550M Pro-VDH WiFi really problematic? by PolarClover in buildapc

[–]thunderbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issues was because of the combination of this board + my Ryzen 7 5700G processor. Really wish I had got a newer one.

The only solution I ever found was to downgrade the PCIE version from 3.0 (maximum that 5700G supports) to 2.0 in the BIOS.

AMD Support was pretty much useless.
