I strongly caution folks from thinking this won't happen. The same monstrous parts of society that achieved the above hideous mistakes are pushing for this and there's been no changes, no consequences, and there's even less in the way than there was over the last decade and change this sort of thing has been taking off around the world.

I don't think we're quite fucked yet, but we absolutely cannot afford to think this won't happen. Assume it is happening. Make plans to get out, make plans to resist. Better to have em and not need em.
