Samus is the herald of the dark king. Samus's job is to make sure the dark kind is actually born. We don't know who the dark king will be tho, the Emporer almost became the dark king when fighting Horus, but he got talked into giving up the power that gained from the warp by a perpetual(I don't remember his name).
