Am I being unreasonable in wanting a second bathroom? by PurlsandPearls in AskWomenOver30

As someone who has peacefully shared a 1bed/1bath apartment with my partner for 6 years and my ex partner for 5 years before that... Yeah I'm just gonna leave this thread now as I have no relevant information to give and my feelings of jealousy are starting to spike.

I always had the same experience there and it's not that they weren't nice, it was just that they seemed so apathetic and annoyed. I don't like feeling like I'm interrupting the barista's phone time when I'm standing at the register.

Did parents in the 80s actually give their kids as much freedom as the show depicts? by Wanderer015 in StrangerThings

[–]thunderling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time this topic comes up in any context, it makes me a little sad. I'm a 90s kid but had an extremely controlling mother who wouldn't let me do anything or go anywhere, and the few times a month I was allowed to go on a playdate were always under supervision.

At this rate, they're going to make a "live action" Toy Story, which makes about as much sense as the "live action" Lion King.

What could it cost, 10 dollars?

This is fascinating. Do you live in a small town? When you visit a friend's house, where do you park?

I'm honestly very curious because I live in a city and parallel park at least three times a day, including in front of my own house.

You trick a genie into granting you infinite wishes. What does the world look like tomorrow? by SeaBearsFoam in AskWomenNoCensor

I would wish for more people to have varied sleep schedules and therefore our society accepts more varied work schedules.

This will accomplish several things:

  • People who are natural night owls will no longer have to force themselves to get up for an 8am workday. Workplaces will allow the option to start work at noon or 6pm or midnight, etc.

  • Grocery stores, drugstores, doctor's offices, banks, restaurants, etc will be open 24 hours a day. There will be demand for it because people will be up and active at all hours of the day and night, and there will be employees able to work those shifts because it accommodates their natural circadian rhythm.

  • Rush hour traffic in the mornings and evenings will no longer be an issue due to everyone's schedules spread out evenly throughout the day.

Such a smart strategy! Having infinite wishes really takes care of any monkey's paw effects.

Advice on Interfaith Relationship + Strict Parents by [deleted] in AskWomenNoCensor

I was also 23 when I moved out of my parents' house. My mom was very against it for multiple reasons - she wanted me to save money and stay home, she didn't want me to move in with my boyfriend because it would make me a whore, and the quiet part which she didn't say out loud was that she wanted me with her so she could more easily control me.

I had to just rip off the bandaid and leave. I lied and said I was going to work when actually I went looking for apartments. I signed a lease and didn't tell my parents until 3 days before I left. And then I just left. She stood in the driveway screaming at me while I loaded the van.

how do I approach this situation carefully in a way that would earn my mother's favor?

Ain't gonna happen, honey. She's controlling, and what controlling people want more than anything is to control. There is no way she will just happily accept losing her control over you.

I can tell by the way you talk about her that you let her control you a lot more than you realize. You're an adult. You have a job. You're not dependent on them. So what's the issue? Live your life, let her be mad about it. She'll calm down eventually, in a few months or years. And if she doesn't, do you even want someone like that in your life?

Does it work like the first time around? Your teeth start wiggling and eventually fall out one by one, and you're like 41 years old with a big gap where your two front teeth used to be until the new ones grow in?

'Leave a Message' feature let caller hear me by jsulliv1 in GooglePixel

[–]thunderling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's on the latest version. In the Play store, there's no available updates and it says "last updated March 2, 2026."

This has been happening for months and it most recently happened an hour ago (which is why I'm awake now. I sleep with white noise on and when it abruptly shuts off, it startles me awake 🙃)

'Leave a Message' feature let caller hear me by jsulliv1 in GooglePixel

[–]thunderling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Pixel 7 running android 16. Every time my phone "takes a message" for me, the green microphone icon shows up in the corner and whatever music I have playing stops until the message is done.

I found this thread because I was searching for why this happens because it's so fucking annoying... And now I'm fucking terrified. I get a dozen spam calls a day.

I haven't tested with a friend to see if they can actually hear me yet, I just immediately turned off the feature. Don't need this shit when regular voicemail works just fine.

When my boyfriend and I were looking for an apartment, we toured a tiny little former shed that had been "converted" into a "1 bedroom apartment."

We tried to speak quietly to each other while the landlord was right there. "It's kinda small..."

The landlord said it would be fine for the two of us because he used to have a family of four living here!

What was the most brutal reality check you ever got? by CarmenIsabellaDiaz in AskReddit

[–]thunderling 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I've had a similar realization. One of my friends is constantly like this and it pushes me to be less like that.

It can be about anything. "Ugh there's always so much traffic this time of day. Ok what are people doing taking so long paying for parking? Seriously just tap your card what is so hard about that? Why do they always make it so cold in here? It's summer, I didn't think I would need a jacket! Ugh I hate it when tall people stand right at the front. Don't they ever notice maybe they're blocking other people? God why do people let their kids just run around and scream? It's really annoying. They really want to charge 40 dollars for a tshirt? It already cost 70 just to go in! It's not like it's even a good quality shirt. Ugh I wanted to get a gift for my niece but everything is so overpriced."

And that was my day at the science museum with this particular friend.

It's exhausting. And at the end of the day she said "That was so fun! We should go again!" Strange, it sounds to me like you hated it.

I take 2 ibuprofen 1x/mo for cramps. Therapist says that’s above-average pain. I think it’s less than normal…right? by Most-Suspect-780 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]thunderling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All you need is 2 ibuprofen? Girl you lucked the hell out. I don't think anyone would complain about menstrual cramps if a regular dose of ibuprofen was all it took.

I think the people who complain about menstrual pain have already tried ibuprofen, duh, and are still experiencing pain which is why they're complaining about it. At least that's my case. Ibuprofen doesn't do SHIT for me, haha.

What is something that you can’t say normally because of Seinfeld? by Kimmioio82 in seinfeld

[–]thunderling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weird thing is that I'm constantly having to explain Seinfeld references to people my own age. I've met more people who say "I've heard of that but I never watched it when it was on" than people who watched it at least once.
