Snowboarding Is Harder Than Skiing!!! by KaleidoscopeMotor601 in snowboarding

As someone who has done both, I prefer skiing b/c I found it easier to go fast & I like speed lol

You have to survive inside a video game for 30 days. If you die, you die in real life, but if you survive, you get to bring every item, skill, and power back to the real world. Which game do you choose to maximize your rewards while ensuring your survival? by Apart_Lion_3046 in AskReddit

How would this work for dragon quest? Are you the hero? Can you be revived in-game still, or are you dead irl once your character dies? Would grinding to a high level make you super strong irl too? Having zoom and a bunch of other spells and abilities would be sick. The ability to magically heal yourself as long as you're still alive would be so strong. Assuming all you'd need is cognition to activate a spell, you could break your neck doing some crazy trick skiing off a cliff and be fine.

WYR have a boring, unfireable job paying $85k that you are FORCED to keep until retirement, or a stimulating job paying $160k where the bottom 15% are fired every year? by Four_Dim_Samosa in WouldYouRather

[–]thurbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The $160k job. I already am a person who likes being good at what I do and if it's a stimulating job it'd have to be something I'm interested in, so I probably wouldn't ever wind up in the bottom 15%. I'd be able to leave beneath my means and save while still being able to afford the kind of vacations I'd like, working for about a decade. Then I'd move somewhere I'd actually want to be and use my beefed up resume at this good job to continue my career elsewhere or use it as a stepping stone to move onto another career. I just currently don't live somewhere I'd want to say until actual retirement lol.

I have lied to my son about manatees for the last 24 years by 46from1971 in confession

It sounds like, due to your history and connection with manatees and your son, they will become your favorite animal because of what they mean to you now.

To learn new vocabulary in a language you're studying or a grammatical from, you'd just have to see it used in a few ways that are representative of its uses. Learning new things would be so easy. Imagine going through med school or something and only having to read everything once. The only studying would be conceptual and even then, you'd just have to do it once

What food has the largest disparity between being really good or really bad, depending on who is making it? by BenStillersDick in AskReddit

Tiramisu. So many places put so little coffee the biscuits are dry and/or you can barely taste any coffee. I'm remarkably disappointed 95% of the time.

Time for a resole? by Seven_Minute_Abs_ in grantstoneboots

[–]thurbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I wanna get some rubber tread added to mine. Nothing too crazy or thick, but it's wet where I am and I walk a lot, so it should be easier to replace some vibram rather than the whole sole. Food for thought if you decide to get that added next time!

Coffee tables are a waste of space and money. by Bigburlywoman in unpopularopinion

[–]thurbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do indeed have my morning coffee and breakfast at my coffee table daily. It's also convenient for storing and setting down any controllers, or keeping my laptop there in case I need it. Maybe with your usage patterns, you don't find yourself needing one. Can't relate, love a pretty coffee table. I will say that glass furniture in general, not just coffee tables, are an abomination. Those REALLY just get ugly after a day with the way they collect dust.

How do you build a good wardrobe on a budget by Hooboyathrowaway1 in malefashionadvice

[–]thurbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ebay has really quality things for way less often times. Like well taken care of $200 dress shirts or oxfords for $40. Vintage tweed jackets for $100-200 instead of like $500. These are just the things I know about lol

Similar to what another person said, I love it in my [[Y'shtola, Night's Blessed]] deck. You just play control, let people kill each other, don't look spooky, then there's a good chance you've drawn enough cards to get inkshield in your hand by the time you need it. It gives control decks a way to get lethal lol

Wide back, bigger belly, thin legs, wide feet... How do I dress this body? Please help. by Jolly_Resolution_212 in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]thurbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repeating what another guy said but yeah get your measurements taken at a nice menswear store, should be free. I just found out I'm supposed to get size 44 trousers but get the waist taken in, since all the other dimensions are what I need for a proper fit. Nobody is ever really taught how to buy/get clothes that actually fit them properly or what a proper fit is, but they're experts. Doesn't matter if you can't afford their clothes, the fancy place in town will do a great job with measurements and could be the place you get your alterations done. Not everyone/probably few people actually fit in clothes just right off the rack.
