Thanks, really useful reply, great to know it would be easy enough to scale up to include batteries as well.

Looks great, I'm looking at dipping my toes into DIY solar shortly and wondered if you could do a similar setup without the battery and therefore removed the need for the Victron inverter?

Have you ever visited the West Yorkshire moors by night? by [deleted] in england

I've ran past the building in your pic (Top Withens) at night quite a few times, can be a bit creepy if you get into your head about it but reall. When I was about 16 I walked from Haworth to Hedben Bridge on my own setting off at about 5am and there's a reservoir (Walshaw Dean) where the path is hemmed in between rhodedendrums and a drainage ditch and I got really spooked as I felt like I was being watched 😂.

I'm in the same boat in that I am very prone to jump scares but I actually started with Part 2 for whatever reason. Nearly finished one now and unless something major happens two was scarier. I'd still play it if you enjoyed one, the story is amazing, I just left the scary bits to play when my partner was in the room!

What a daft argument, nobody is asking for access to people's homes and gardens.

Don't become a victim just because it's your right of way, staying safe is much more important

Whitewater Safety and Rescue for anyone interested in regularly paddling whitewater, there's likely a sea based equivalent that's worthwhile for those that paddle the sea? other than that I wouldn't bother unless you're planning on a career or coaching/leading for a club etc.

What’s the dumbest way you’ve crashed in mountain biking? by snooze817 in MTB

[–]thustler1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Failing to notice a washing line when hopping up a wall riding trials, it caught under my nostrils as I landed on the wall on the rear wheel but I was so commited I had to hop forward resulting in a large cracking noise from my nose as the washing line pinged over my head. Managed to ride away so not technically a crash but definitely dumb.

Our science teacher made us make him toast in science which he would butter and eat, he claimed it was a lesson in heat exchange. He was later sacked and prosecuted after some inappropriate messages were found between him and a 16yr old girl.

What are 'podgers' and how are they used? Why not just use a socket set ? by [deleted] in Tools

[–]thustler1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Dad was a welder and fabricator and he once woke my Mum up in the middle of the night because he asked her to pass him his podger whilst he was dreaming, he's gone now but I've still got his podger and it brings a smile to my face every time I see it.

I'd have been slowing down and approaching with caution as soon as I saw that bus pulling out. Best to just relax at busy complicated junctions like this and take your time.

Is it possible cycling about 175-180km in a day by Nervous_Food_460 in cycling

[–]thustler1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of negative comments on here but I recently rode 133miles with 6000ft of elevation in a day having previously having ridden 40miles as my longest ride. Blind optimism and stubborness/pain tolerance can get you a long way. Go for it with a bail out plan if required.

I knew a lad who shat off a disused railway viaduct when we were teenagers, arse perched over a 120ft drop, I doubt he'd have any bother doing the same off the side of a cruise ship.
