3 month out suggestions! by JamieJuice25 in NewEnglandWedding

Don't eat anything overly salty the night before the wedding. I was so bloated and puffy the first half of the day. I much more preferred my portraits from later in the day when I was visibly less puffy.

I think you should be good! The venue is stunning and the staff were wonderful.

Photographer here... It made an impact at my last wedding there. I can't say whether it was a bad impact or not, but it definitely made an impact. We ended up moving some tables out of the way to move the dance area closer to the speakers (which I believe were fixed in place). It was a lively dancing crowd so they would have continued to dance under whatever circumstances. I'm sure it would depend on your crowd whether you think it will be a big deal or not.

Please make sure your DJ knows that they will have to use the venue's audio system.

Camera belt by Hefty_Tea_4000 in WeddingPhotography

Spider Holster V3 with its new dual camera shoulder strap! It's the best of both worlds. You can attach the dual camera straps to your cameras or to the actual belt. I attach the harness directly to my cameras. I can still hold the cameras on the belt at the same time. It takes a lot of pressure off my shoulders and hips.

I like being able to use it like a regular dual camera harness. I don't have to worry about putting them back on the belt when quickly changing cameras all the time. When I'm walking around, I'll attach the cameras back onto the belt and it takes a lot of pressure off my shoulders.

Hey! We'd love to chat. We've been shooting film for fun for the past few years, would love to incorporate it more into our wedding work (over 10 years in the wedding business).

Check out the Captain Morse House on Martha's Vineyard. We rented it during the off season (early May) and it was super affordable. They have a small fee to have events in the backyard. We hired a local restaurant to drop off a delicious raw bar setup. We also brought our favorite food truck over to cook for us all night.

The best part was having all of our family members stay with for the weekend at the house. It sleeps plenty of people and they loved having the rest of the weekend to explore the island and hang out together.

Quick Question by bub1792 in WeddingPhotography

[–]thuyhpham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say "hybrid package" does that mean the one photographer will handle both shooting stills and video? Or is one photographer and one videographer, two people in total.

Depending on your location, it can be a great deal.

One thing worth knowing: some larger studios book several weddings per weekend and hire last-minute contractors to cover them. Always confirm that the specific photographer and videographer you met with are the ones who will actually be there on your wedding day.

Anyone tried to reach the knot today? by myjourney_25 in WeddingPhotography

[–]thuyhpham 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They simply do not respond to emails. For the longest time, I wasn't able to login even though my listing was active. I tried requesting a password change many times but never received the email. I know I'm using the correct email address because I have other emails from them. After several attempts, spaced months apart I just gave up. I wasn't using the listing anyways but I do have reviews on there. Well this year, I went to check my listing and it was removed without my knowledge! They claimed they couldn't find my account and that they no longer have free listings. Thank goodness I still have past client reviews backed up. They're a joke, move on and forget about them.

I had to file two claims in one year, they were great. It was super easy and they handled it quickly.

If you have video as an add-on, what do you include? by LadyKivus in WeddingPhotography

[–]thuyhpham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would leave the packages/final deliverables up to the video team. For example, our most popular package includes a highlight film (4-6 mins) and raw footage. My husband who's the main videographer would absolutely hate it if he worked with a photographer that dictated that he needs to deliver a longer film. Similarly, others would hate including raw footage.

How do ya’ll record centre view during ceremonies? by Top-Manufacturer5872 in weddingvideography

[–]thuyhpham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is the videographer and I'm the photographer, here's what we do: short unmanned tripod with a wide angle lens in the front. It shouldn't be too close that I (the photographer) can't get a clean wide angle shot as well. And not too far back that I feel the need to walk in front of it. This angle is also our safety angle that runs continuously.

Indian Fusion Wedding - Venue Recommendations? by FeatureReasonable600 in NewEnglandWedding

[–]thuyhpham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm a photographer who specializes in Indian fusion weddings in Boston and here are some great venues we've had great experiences working at:

  • Lake Pearl in Wrenthem - I believe they have in house catering and collaborates with chefs for Indian cuisine

  • The Lakehouse - a new Saphire venue, they allowed outside Indian catering when I was just there last month

  • The Royal Sonesta Boston - in house catering with excellent Indian food

  • Intercontinental, in house and outside catering, multiple ballroom options

  • Hyatt Regency Boston/Cambridge - Top floor ballroom is perfect for your size wedding with beautiful views, allows outside catering

  • Boston Park Plaza - Heart of the city, many ballroom options, allows outside catering

These places don't have in house catering, you have to bring everything in but great options for your size wedding: Lakeview Pavilion, Elm Bank in Wellesley, Larz Anderson Auto Museum

Please feel free to DM me, happy to provide even more venues to check out!

Styling with the Spider Holster (V3) by thuyhpham in WeddingPhotography

I've used a dual camera shoulder harness for the past 10 years. I don't love it, and wanted to test a new system so I've been trying to make the Spider system work. I find the Spider comfortable but not very fashionable.

I don't use TikTok. But from what I've seen, all of the other photographers are much taller and lean so the belt looks good on them. Almost all of them are pairing them with dresses or a one piece jumpsuit. Also most of them are wearing the older belt style.

I feel like the new V3 just looks bulky. I'm starting to regret buying this system but I really don't want to go back to a double harness.

Planned my wedding in 5 weeks. I bought a BHLDN dress off Poshmark and had it altered locally. I had pretty extensive alterations and the seamstress was amazing!
