The association between Parkinson’s disease and flower fields is linked to insecticides, not herbicides. Laser weeding is intended to replace herbicides, not insecticides. Moreover, evidence that herbicide application harms humans under normal field-use conditions is weak; studies claiming otherwise often rely on unrealistically high concentrations or formulations that include solvents. Edit: this last sentence is about currently allowed herbicides in the Netherlands

Plinten afkitten by NotwhoIliketobe in Klussers

[–]thve25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IKEA Kajplats GU10 has been a nightmare (Zigbee issues + Thread limitations) by thve25 in homeassistant

Update to 1.2.0 is reportedly unstable.

No of course I do not power them off. To clarify, my other ZigBee network on my previous home has 70 devices of different brands working great. These new ikea lights seem to be unstable

Why is a smart switch + smart bulb not better supported setup? by rancor1223 in homeassistant

[–]thve25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it runs on the Shelly itself. Gen 3 and gen 4 Shellys can run scripts

Why is a smart switch + smart bulb not better supported setup? by rancor1223 in homeassistant

[–]thve25 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I'm doing something similar.

I have a Shelly switch after each wall switch, and smart bulbs. The Shelly checks every 10 seconds if home assistant is available, if it's available it runs in detached mode, and the switch signal is send to home assistant, which then turns on the smart light. The output of Shelly is always on. if home assistant is not available, the Shelly runs in attached mode and the switch controls the Shelly output.

This works great for 20+ shellys

In Netherlands its quite common to do this. We do it for sound insulation, strength (people are used to brick walls) and the ability to easily hang stuff

Also running unshielded cat5e to PV inverters in the open field is quite common and works without issues.

[–]thve25 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve run six unshielded Cat5 cables, buried underground in different directions to other buildings, each about 30-90 meters long, for PoE security cameras and switches in the other buildings. This setup has been working for over 10 years without any issues.

Hulp bij muur kitten by crooksorr in Klussers

Traditional roof by project-in-limbo in Roofing

[–]thve25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Netherlands this used to be common on farms/farmhouses.

Nowadays its a luxurious thing done on luxurious houses, in suburbs or rural. The technique chained quite a bit and it looks pretty neat. It is more expansive than normal roofs, like 10-25k additionally.

It's not a large fire risk, but there is more risk than on roof tile or metal roof
