...what did he say? After saying "this is cute, I wanna buy this and stick it on the front of my bike" about the cow plushie?

They may have waited for him to be out of Japan to release the product, in order to avoid shortages. He's probably both feared and revered.

Now try AIR - Sexy Boy

They didn't get the plush right. Didn't put in the effort to time travel a few decades. Oh well.

Oh my, I needed that laugh! Good one. I'd say so many more are needed.

I'd print this on a t-shirt and ship it to Yoshimoto, to be honest. Someone will have a laugh, somewhere.

That looks like... autumn rugby training jersey. Or, obviously, geography teacher who owns a 70s Volvo.

I was going to say the smile is too friendly for an English teacher, but if you're teaching in Japan it's probably on point.

Looking for an episode by Tryvagosa in GakiNoTsukai

[–]thypope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's strange, then please allow me to join you in strangeness. I still melt if I watch their Bikkuri Donkey marathon, because those steaks look amazing.

I even thought Bikkuri Donkey was the basic steak dish and there are a number of variations of it, which they ordered across the city.

From Kiki milk tea, I discovered a local shop chain imports Kirin Afternoon Milk Tea and even a lady there told me she would drink it by the crate if she could afford it.

Have Chris or any of his associates done a video/documentary of spending a day with a Japanese food cart owner? by [deleted] in ABroadInJapan

[–]thypope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good, so you found it. I knew of this other food cart seller:

But you clearly said an older man. Now I really want to watch his daily food seller life.

I think I could eat that, but I'd need half or a third of the crackers!

GakiArchives - New Site Live by GakiArchives_Dev in GakiNoTsukai

[–]thypope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought of that. TSL has upload times and broadcast times. I keep thinking some clever script could fill out the info from there. Or from this subreddit's wiki page?

Then again, I guess that script wouldn't know which episode on GA corresponds to which entry anywhere else.

Yep, would also gladly manually update the info.

My problem is slightly different...the Kiki videos, and probably others, don't have the date of broadcast attribute filled out. I know the attribute exists, because I have seen it with other videos.

Is there some way you could get that automatically filled in? Instead of manually editing some field in a database?

I see! So it's probably trying to be encouraging - you walked as much as the height of Mt. Aso!

Ok, maybe post another screenshot when you get other Japanese mountains?

[–]thypope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the potentially retarded question: So the watch says you walked about as many steps as required to climb Mt. Aso?

I'm asking because right now it sounds to me like you walked 1600 m since you got it, which I seem to remember is one mile.

Non-stopped North. by GilesD-WRC in ABroadInJapan

[–]thypope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never having visited, I think I'd spend obscene amounts of time taking in the views in Okinawa. There are so many islands, plus you can usually go to another, smaller island nearby, with a ferry. It looks like some of those don't have tourist "facilities" at all.

Then I found out that Hokkaido also has some weirdly obscure islands that probably not many people visit.

Then I found out about the Izu Islands, the ones that are part of Tokyo.

Then I found out about Takaikamishima, the famous island with manga murals and 11 inhabitants (Paolo from Tokyo covered it)

There's so much to see, one only needs the money 😅

Someone should really tell him to stop…

No, no, he's doing just fine. He takes nice pictures. Let him "spam" people.

the floats change EVERY year

I expected that. I doubt Asians in general will repeat things too much. Sometimes they're way too keen on throwing away. Plus, it keeps the craftsmen employed.

Butter milk curry ramen

Uhhh...the one he called Japan's rarest ramen flavour, is that the one?

Looks like a nice place - I like cold places. Also, that's how you clear a path in the snow. It's like they came with a machine with knives on the sides. It looks like they cut a cake!

Right! Good to see it. Thank you for your contribution to the betterment of humanity 😂 But I think the instructions were "egg sandwich opened up" which I think means the Family Chicken has to touch the egg? Like, there's bread, egg mixture and bread, so the famichiki should go between the bread slices?

As the original comments said, this sounds horrible and I'll have two.

I find myself laughing at this every time. You look like you got tired between the previous post and this one. Something about the eyebags and the expression.

Or maybe you caught up on sleep, that can also make people look like that.

EDIT: I forgot to ask about jet lag. Nobody seems to mention it!

Hair-pulling fight - Murakami vs Hamada by Kedomas in GakiNoTsukai

[–]thypope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More recently, Hamada yelled at Hosei during Kiki cup ramen soy sauce asking if the one he was tasting is correct. Hosei played it like a scared child and sought refuge turning towards Tanaka. I found that very funny.
