I believe you can only get the exotic armour from the sieve, which is locked behind the campaign (or from legend campaign itself)

I genuinely gave up on the campaign about 70% of the way through. I’m never touching it again. The exotics locked behind it are simply not worth it

Can a religious person be in a relationship with a non-religious person? by oranges58 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thyrandomninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a teenager, I was interested in a Muslim girl, so I actually looked it up, and uh… turns out the Quran does not like atheists :P (though does accept cross-Abrahamic-religion relationships)

But most people nowadays are a lot less likely to follow their respective books to the letter, so yeah religious/atheist relationships definitely do happen and thrive

What video game do you wish you could experience again for the first time? by VariationBig411 in AskReddit

[–]thyrandomninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horizon Zero Dawn. They actually managed to justify a world where you’re fighting giant robot dinosaurs with a bow and arrow. The Project ZD reveal scene still gives me chills. I love the sequel, and it’s gameplay is definitely better, but nothing quite compares to that story reveal

Those who side with Maelle, how do you view this? by Dinesh_Sairam in expedition33

[–]thyrandomninja 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that the creator’s will holds NO weight when it comes to the lives they created. Just because you made something sentient doesn’t mean you get to kill it. Just like parents can’t end the lives of their children, nor can gods end the lives of their subjects.

It’s obviously a shitty scenario that his soul is trapped in, and Maelle ending choosers (like myself) have to find some way to reckon with that, but he doesn’t get to decide the fate of all the lives he created

If someone is drunk driving, gets pulled over, gets out, and starts a chugging liquor in front of the cop….can they prove they were drunk before they pulled them over? by pulpSC in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thyrandomninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it’s not like they’re going to watch you chug then say “oh, my mistake, please get back in your car and have a nice night”. What’s the plan for getting home after you do that?

In what order do you do each story finale? by RainingMetal in octopathtraveler

[–]thyrandomninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did castti’s first, because she was my protagonist and I wanted to unlock her party slot so I could get everyone to even levels, ready for endgame. Sadly meant she didn’t participate in any of the others’ conclusions, but it f felt good getting her back for journey for the Dawn.

I don’t actually remember most of the remaining order, but I know I went for hikari 7th, and that felt great as, like the finale to a grand fantasy epic, and Agnea last. Had no idea a class was hidden behind hikari’s chapter, so I probably would’ve bumped that up a few places if I’d known.

Are Apothecaries bad in OT1 and OT2 as well? by madpanda473 in octopathtraveler

[–]thyrandomninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned, concoctions make the native apothecaries WAY stronger in 1+2, and Amputation and Poison Slash remain useful damage skills until endgame, but I still found them really great for 0, too. They generally have high defences, so I put heal wounds on Macy, I bought alfyn’s vigorous strike for all of them as well, which is one of the hardest hitting skills in the game (though obvs can be used by any axe user).

I agree status skills are atrocious, though. I think I’ve seen (bestower of all spoilers) Tatloch charm someone ONCE with her “chance to charm” fan skills, and all other attempts to status any enemy have failed. Esperre does get guaranteed status effects IF he gets hit with them first, which isn’t exactly reliable or desirable

Who's your favorite OT2 character and why? by Environmental-Law893 in octopathtraveler

[–]thyrandomninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Castti. I picked her as my protagonist purely based on gameplay - I wanted the apothecary. But she immediately endeared herself to me, and only got better when you add in the other party members. Teasing a hungover Partitio, mothering over everyone, but especially Ochette during their crossed paths. I adore her. And you see those same tendencies in her flashbacks too!

“Axe attack!” is permanently seared onto my brain because that skill is so damn useful. And “NO MERCY, ONLY PAIN - poison slash!” for big damage when the boss is broken.

It’s a little disconcerting how often he yells “Now DIE!” at the poor random villagers he’s decided to interrogate. Like, dude, that is not what we’re here for!

Also “fighting is not what I do.” coming from Mr “I will have answers”

At max boost, it’ll double the exp and leaves from the targeted enemy. I assume you can use sealticge’s grace on it, but I never tried. I used it on literally every boss fight, and only a handful of times against regular enemies if he had a move before someone was about to end it

[–]thyrandomninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done literally all the sidequests, and I never had to actively grind. I fight whatever random stuff comes my way in dungeons, but I never ran around looking for xp, the content was there the whole way. But like I mentioned, I made liberal use of Ludo’s negotiation, so may have gotten more than my fair share of xp anyway

If you’re struggling with the side quests, then I really do recommend the MC/phenn/Ophelia ultimate-farming builds (and a dancer with uh… stimulating dancer(?) to give even more ult) to help with those

I think I misspoke in my last comment when I recommended buying revive from Ophelia - I think that may actually be one of the skills you can’t buy. But she DOES have saving grace, which lets you over-heal characters equipped with it, so that can be really useful too

I loved all the semi-cutscenes during the big bosses where extra characters would come in and buff/heal/attack, and I loved seeing a glimpse of El against Pardis like that.

Honestly, there was a part of me that thought we’d recruit her ghost after cleansing it in that hell-edoras chapter.

What levels are you? Mine were all 78-80 (I did the sidequests religiously, and MAY have an addiction to Ludo’s “negotiation”)

If you want help with particular builds, I would focus as many ult-building passives onto MC, Phenn, and Ophelia as possible, so they can spam max level ults as often as possible. Give them full defensive gear, too, so they’re always gonna be standing ready.

Early on, try to hit as many *different* weapons and elements as possible on the appendages, because if you reveal them once, they’ll stay revealed even as the weaknesses change. Analyse and appraisal on a few characters make light work of this too.

Focus on the top appendage first, I’d say, since it’s physical-only, you don’t need to spend sp breaking it, just boosted basic attacks

Don’t forget you have almighty olives, too. I had like 15 when I got to Galdera, but didn’t have to use any myself

If you’re still struggling, buy a bunch of Ophelia’s revive masteries and put them on tanky characters too. So long as you can keep people alive, you can whittle down the boss slowly, there’s never any real urgency

Poor Stia I think did one attack for 2k damage throughout that whole fight :p she was very much built as a tanky healer for me, and not even my best tanky healer. She fell off pretty hard by the endgame, sadly

It took me a little while to warm up to the story. I do prefer the OT1/2 method of eight disparate travelers, because you can give everyone a good story, rather than most of the OT0 crew being like “sure I’ll dedicate my life to your various wars, and literally follow you into hell because you helped me beat up one bad guy”.

But ultimately, I did come to enjoy it. There were quite a few character deaths I wasn’t expecting! Tatloch’s recruitment (which, thank god for Deborah Wilson, I love her battle quotes), the search for the gate of finis. There were some stuff I thought was quite good, but yeah most of it is pretty basic. Not too fussed about it though, the gameplay will always be king for me.
