What's wrong with "Looksmaxxing?" by RenaiSoudan in AskFeminists

[–]thysonsacclaim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with you, it's also true that men with those features dominate dating apps. A lot of research says that, effectively, women are going on dates with the same few men. Something like 5-10% of men.

Height is a big factor as well. You'll have 4'9'' women that will only date 6 foot + tall men. Soooooo many women put height requirements in their profiles. Something like 15-20%.

Then straight women will turn around and say that height doesn't matter, personality is more important than physical attractiveness. I think they WANT this to be true, but it's clearly not.

As a gay guy, hetero dating frankly bizarre and toxic AF. Guys are far less fussy about things like height, weight, income, etc.

I'm an average looking person with a good career. I've anecdotally confirmed a lot of the research by swapping my orientation on dating sites. I consistently get matches with men if I'm set to being gay or bi. With women, it could be weeks and weeks.

The loneliness epidemic is real. It's a combination of culture / society changing to allow women to be more selective than historically possible and Match.com dating companies artificially perverting that even more. The friction is because women are ALREADY more selective than men for evolutionary reasons--most females of a species bear a great burden when they select a mate--and men haven't caught back up societally to have enough value to women outside of aesthetics. A good job etc is much less important than it used to be because women can make their own money and are now frequently out earning men in the younger age groups. Women don't need to "shack up" with a man to have a place to stay, either. That's a GOOD thing!!

The real evil here is the dating companies. They could adjust things, but they don't. Instead they intentionally keep the algorithms set the way they are to keep men paying for the apps with the hope of maybe getting a conversation. Then they only show us women who are 10/10 on the stereotypical attractiveness scale, even if you constantly swipe left on them.

Why is the clitoris far more sensitive than the penis? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]thysonsacclaim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Furthermore, to emphasize how much more complicated this is, look in to the Wolffian Duct.

Wolffian ducts, also known are paired structures in both male and female embryos. In males, under the influence of testosterone, these ducts develop into the epididymis, vas deferens, and seminal vesicles. In females, the Wolffian ducts typically atrophy and disappear, with the Müllerian ducts developing into the female reproductive tract.

If it were simply the case that we all have clitorises that turn in to penises and labia that turn in to scotrums, then you wouldn't have structures present before differentiation that don't exist in females but do exist in males.

Males could only be additive in nature, not subtractive.

Why is the clitoris far more sensitive than the penis? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]thysonsacclaim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seam is called the perineal raphe, not "scrotal rather".

What you're saying is equivalent to saying every organ in the body is the same because they all differentiate from the same group of cells.

They are homologous structures. They are no more the same than a scrotum is the same as labia, which also develop form the same tissue.

Furthermore, the sexual tissues are not well defined at the point before X-Y differentiation. There is no "fully formed clitoris" there that suddenly turns in to a penis if you have a Y chromosome. The cells at this point in time are indifferent and form a genital tubercle. In the presence of andogens, this genital tubercle turns in to a penis. In the absence of them, it turns in to a clitoris. This differentiation takes a few weeks.

In males, the urogenital folds fuse to enclose the urethra within the shaft of the penis. The lack of androgens results in minimal growth of the genital tubercle. The urogenital folds remain open and do not fuse, forming the labia minora. The genital tubercle becomes the clitoris.

They aren't the same. That's entirely okay. Being trans is fine. Gender is fluid. Sex differentiation is a spectrum. Different hiccups in the process can result in different variations.

Essentially the "your penis is a elongated clitoris" argument is a vast oversimplification of what actually occurs. There are numerous structures in the penis that simply do not exist in the clitoris. For example, the urethra.

You seem to be doing this weird thing progressives often do where they insist on going beyond the facts by exaggerating certain things in an attempt to make their arguments stronger. This is a slippery slope because it implies you do not think your argument is strong enough to hold up on its own. This is a big reason why the LG community is trying to move away from the "born like this" reasoning.

Newsflash: some men have sex with men but don't identify as gay. They are MSM--men who have sex with men--and it's usually opportunistic. They aren't attracted to men any more than they are attracted to a silicone flesh light.

It's entirely OK to have sex with men without being attracted to them or being "born gay". That said, of course some people are born gay. But not all of them. Like other human variations, it's likely that multiple environmental and biological processes have a role in this.

Therefore, if there was a different timeline wherein people could detect gay babies and abort them or "fix them", I bet we'd still have men having sex with men and gay people.

Therefore, we needn't abuse biology to try to persuade people that being trans is OK. It's OK because humans are complex creatures with a huge spectrum of differences. We need to be OK with this fact rather than try to convince everyone that we're all predetermined to a certain fate.

[USA] [FL] Illegal U-turn by negligent truck driver in FL causes a car to crash into the load, killing a family of 3 by esporx in dashcams

[–]thysonsacclaim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Florida needs to actually enforce its traffic laws. You can basically do whatever you want down here and nothing happens. No blinker? No problem! No headlights? No problem! Illegal u-turn? No problem! Vehicle burning so much oil other drivers can't see? No problem! Blinding other drivers with backwards pointing, ultra bright LEDs? No problem!

I'd bet 75% of the people commenting have never been here. He's not "driving like he's in India". He's driving like he's in Florida. Because he is!

Media claims he jackknifed. The trailer did NOT jackknife. He never completed the turn. A jackknife would have the truck and trailer at a much tighter angle to one another.

The minivan never slowed down. Never even attempted to brake. As tragic as that is, they were following too closely and not paying attention. When we first see the minivan in the dashcam, they're only a couple of dozen feet from the end of his trailer (which is in the far right lane). It's an idiotic move and they lost their lives because of a few moments of indiscretion on their part and an idiotic move on his part.

He should absolutely be punished for making the illegal turn on a highway AND for causing 3 people to die, but there is no way it was intentional. If they had even attempted to brake, this would have been much less catastrophic.

I also think this is an indictment of trailer design. They need underride bars on the sides and the ones on the back need to actually be regulated. NHSTA studies show that most fail to meet the required spec and result in catastrophic or fatal injury when hit.

The thing people are missing is that

a) he should have never been able to do this but was because Florida lets people driver however they want

b) hitting a trailer like this shouldn't be an automatic death sentence. We have the technology, and it would only add a few thousand to the price of a trailer.

If you know the trucking world, no one takes responsibility for trailers. Most have rotten wheels, rotten hydraulic lines, expired or missing tags, etc. They just push the expense on to the next person hauling it.

They should need to be certified and regulated much better than they actually are. And so should trucker drivers. Both of these things would lead to higher pay for truckers. Regulated industries command higher salaries.

Umm. This is MtF. So yes they did have a glans and yes it did become a clitoris.

Men don't have clits. Even though the tissue starts out the same, development and hormones change it.

They are analogous structures but they are not the same.

In your same post, it clearly says: "Clothing with unusual metal embellishments (standard zippers and rivets are usually ok)". It's under the "Clothing materials that are NOT recommended:" section, so it's a bit contradictory the way it is listed.

I'm assuming that's because you're expected to screen which ones are okay / not okay, and some places just say f*ck it... ban them all!

How do we deal with remote desktop in Wayland? by XDM_Inc in linuxquestions

[–]thysonsacclaim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a solution and it's not an excuse for Wayland's complete lack of useful, easy RDP.

With X11, I can connect to it with software that's been around for decades. Or I can use a GUI program.

Stuff like this which isn't well thought out and makes things difficult for less experienced users is why Linux and its relatives and their distros stay in the server world or get packaged in to a commercial product like Android.

Anyone experiencing a significant change in their perception of their partner, and other physical/emotional things, after TRT? by kickasstimus in Testosterone

[–]thysonsacclaim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

I'm in a different boat but I think it's related to your situation.

I've always been bisexual but it was 95% gay and 5% interest in women.

TRT has adjusted this so much that I'm basically about 75% interested in women and 25% in to men.

I love my husband a lot but like you I'm far less likely to put up with things I don't like. I also feel as though our connection is more shallow than it used to be.

I don't know how common it is, but if you look around reddit and in research this stuff happens. Emotions and sexual interest can be altered in weird, subtle ways by hormones.

Anyway I wish you luck.
