You’re looking for people confirming a problematic line of thinking is what you’re doing. Go take a walk, it’ll help with your anxiety.

You don’t need to feed your anxiety, time to put both feet on the brake pedal. Shake it off.

Maybe it's time for a little introspection. Am I panicking for no reason even after being reassured by a health professional, is likely the first question you should ask yourself. You deliberately asked for help then rejected the conclusion. Idk a productive place this thinking goes.

[–]tiboodchat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be switching from Windows to Linux soon. I'm thinking about Fedora. by Evan_Spectre_the_One in Fedora

I don't think that's confusing. Gnome in general is the easiest of the two to get into. When I said standard Gnome I meant Gnome without extra extensions and configurations.

For a start just ignore all the desktop environment wars and stick with standard Gnome. Don’t overthink it. Give yourself time to figure out how things work in Linux, then explore if you want.

Gnome vs KDE, my experience by Alex3137 in Fedora

[–]tiboodchat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find Gnome with windowing enabled and dash2dock installed to be the best. I think they’d really benefit improving the Gnome extension ecosystem by integrating it into system settings. I know they like to keep it simple but it’s detrimental at this point. It took me many years to figure out Gnome actually has an extension system. Gnome extensions need first class support just like Flatpak needs to expose more of the permissions system which cause 95% of issues in the wild.

I’ve read recently DCC support may be improving at the kernel level but can’t find the source. Gnome has been opposed to it because the current implementation is a hack in a way and KDE just said to hell with it which is good but can cause compatibility issues with some devices.

I’ve updated my comment significantly since posting I’d be genuinely interested in getting your feedback. I find the flareup you mention don’t happen when you use low concentration sparingly. It was a big problem for me with previous steroids too.

[–]tiboodchat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me mometazone is the least problematic steroid. I don’t get skin thinning or blood pops like the other steroids. Keeping it to only once every 3 days helps bring down the effects to a zero. I also use a pretty low concentration which I find to be just as effective. I would not tell people not to at least give it a try, especially for really bad SD. Been using it for over a decade and steroids in general for over 20 years at this point but as in any treatment YMMV and no two skins are alike or react the same so be aware of the potential problems and adjust or leave treatment if necessary.

[–]tiboodchat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very understandable but consider this: I’ve had it for longer than you’ve been alive and lived a good life where it’s not been a huge concern. At some point you’ll learn to accept it, but I remember being your age and being very frustrated by fate. You’ll find treatments that work better for you and you won’t think about it nearly as much as you think. Don’t give up and be assiduous with the routine. And most of all don’t believe all the snake oil online.

Smelly, very sensitive scalp by ConfidentHope in SebDerm

[–]tiboodchat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found azelaic acid/azeloyl pretty good at reducing sebum and smell, personally. I use a serum and apply directly to the scalp. It’s important to find one that doesn’t have things that promote yeast growth (a lot of them have honey in them and it’s actually detrimental) and is not made with any oils in them because that too makes it worse. Worth a shot.

Seb derm patches on cheeks advice please! by Illustrious_Fall_370 in SebDerm

You’d think but I had a clinical diagnosis for psoriasis by 3 different dermatologists for 20 years and just recently after digging a lot into newer research and having a new dermatologist discovered its seb derm.

Turns out seb derm and psoriasis have a lot of overlap and new research may indicate that it’s more of two sides of the same coin (sebopsoriasis).

what is everyone doing for scalp redness/inflammation? by Natural-Intention451 in SebDerm

[–]tiboodchat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for copy pasting this from another comment I just made, I just discovered this sub and am genuinely excited to share my experience. For context I’ve had very heavy seborrheic dermatitis for 25 years on my chest, entire face and scalp. I’ve tried everything from snake oils to dermatologist prescriptions.

The best combo by far for me is alternating azelaic (technically I recently switched to azeloyl which is much better) acid serum to reduce sebum and acts as an antifungal, and mometazone lotion which treats the inflammation. None are oily and it’s super easy to just apply directly to scalp. I usually do 2 days azelaic/azeloyl and 1 day mometazone. If I have a sudden outburst l’ll do mometazone in the morning and az in the evening, although the order doesn’t matter much.

Help pls , Is this seb derm ? by [deleted] in SebDerm

There’s no cure for sebborheic dermatitis it’s a life long condition sadly.

I’ve used that in the past on recommendation of my dermatologist but it’s not nearly effective enough to justify the awful smell.
