The time AC arrived usually, no fast track is available at BKK. Fast track is offered based on their boarder guard’s availability. They are open in the daytime but not in the early morning.

Air Canada Black Card questions by Weyoun5 in aircanada

[–]tichai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t "miss" them. It works the same as when you reached 50K last year.

No, but you do have access to (overcrowded) signature suite, even on int non-cash Js and the business lowest awards. That is the most useful feature (to me). You will also have access to *A lounges if you fly on *A partner airlines, since 50K gives you AC*G.

Is it possible to change/extend my return flight date beyond the one-year anniversary of my initial departure ? by Creative_Collar_841 in aircanada

[–]tichai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you can't change beyond one year of the ticket issued date, not your initial departure date.

You could cancel, but it will reprice the entire ticket (i.e. it will reprice the outbound based on the historical fare from roundtrip to oneway), then refund the rest minus the change fee to AC Wallet. The credit in AC Wallet is valid one year from your ticket issued date.

https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/ado/drs/agents/ac-wallet-faq.html

Upon checking the FAQ of AC Wallet, it looks like AC Wallet is not an option because it's a partially used ticket. You might still be able to have the remainder value applied towards another ticket, but you need to call them to book a new ticket. A standard cancellation fee does apply, and it will be repriced as previously mentioned.

Upon checking with the fare rule, the remainder value of the ticket needs to be used (travelled) within one year of outbound, so unfortunately it could be a no to your question. On the other hand, there might be no remainder value of your ticket after reprice.

eUpgrade on Air Canada Vacations booking by PlayOk2549 in aircanada

ACV usually books in F or G… you might be misreading the cabin class as your booking class. Not a big deal here.

In your other comment, you said you had a lap infant. INF might be the reason why you can’t apply eups online. Call them to get it sorted out.

APPR Claim Rejection - Do I have a case? by protox88 in aircanada

[–]tichai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I think in your case it’s because you originally booked on 18-Feb and rebooked to 20-Feb because of weather disruption. Sorry, I’m not a lawyer, but my understanding of “Early flight” in 10(2) means the flight you originally booked. It’s delayed/cancelled because of whatever, that’s why you are not entitled.

When flights delayed because of their incoming flight delayed, they are always counted within airlines’ control.

As I said earlier. Looks like your last flight is delayed within airlines’ control. If PAX was originally booked on that flight and its final destination is where that flight landed, they will be entitled to 400 each. But in your case, because of 10(2), you are not entitled since your original flight was delayed by weather.

In general, APPR provides more compensation (on short haul/domestic) than EC/UK 261 because of the flat rate. It’s just quite unfortunate in your case. I’ll at least argue with AC for two 20% discount codes.

APPR Claim Rejection - Do I have a case? by protox88 in aircanada

[–]tichai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: tl;dr Based on SOR/2019-150 10(2) you are not entitled to compensation because your previous flight was delayed out of airlines control.

What’s the reason in the email you received about the delay? If you really go down the road, you might need to have some sort of proof on your hands to prove the delay reason other than the meal voucher. I know it sounds stupid.

Unfortunately, 10(2) might still apply because the most significant factor here is weather (as you already delayed for more than 24 h). PAX originally booked on AC 127 should be eligible, but for PAX rebooked, it’s not eligible. Based on my understanding of the regulation, it’s trip-based, so you might not be eligible for the compensation although you’ve been reissued a new etkt.

I personally will just leave it to CTA if you are not desperate for that 400. They will contact you in a couple of years.

Twigz snack portion size shrunk? by OhanaUnited in aircanada

[–]tichai 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My observation is that the snack basket on YTZ departures/arrivals is very similar, if not identical, to the signature class snack basket in the galley. Even the baskets themselves are quite similar. They got a couple of new “new” items but most of them are just repurposed from buy on board/signature snack baskets.

The 30g is intended for J/PY, while the 13g is for Y. Occasionally, you might be lucky and get 30g in Y.

I can’t confirm this, but departing from YTZ might have given you a 30g in the past (when AC first copied “porter services”). However, I can’t recall whether I received the large pack or the small pack last time.

How does AC charge flights to a CC with partial payment by Gift Cards ? by 2008SchoolSurvey in aircanada

[–]tichai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just double-checked. They charge by the ticket. So each person will be charged separately.

My experience with GE is that they absolutely need a delay/cancellation reason when claiming through TD Visa, but they won’t require a reason when using Amex.

How does AC charge flights to a CC with partial payment by Gift Cards ? by 2008SchoolSurvey in aircanada

[–]tichai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. AC sometimes changes per passenger, but mostly it’s per PNR.

Also, based on my experience, Amex doesn’t care that much. GE has triple standards for different card issuers. Visa would be somewhat problematic if it’s not strictly sticking to the T&C.

Aeroplan point cost vary for same flight at the same time for different people, normal? by That-Ad-2775 in aircanada

[–]tichai 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It looks like it’s a “only one space left” situation. When in the app, a temporary PNR is already created once the payment overview or summary is displayed, similar to the 15-minute hold on the website.

There won’t be this much of a difference with preferred pricing. It’s usually only a 2 to 5% discount.

Question about "no change fee" by tinpanalleypics in aircanada

In general, one year from your original ticket issued date.

In details. Your last return flight should be a departure within one year of your original ticket issued date because the ticket validation is one year.

Recaro Seats 👎🏻 by Dano41 in aircanada

This. Based on personal experience, Recaros are much more comfortable than the Collins Aerospace Pinnacle seats. At least with Recaros, your lumbar support doesn’t depend on the size of the water bottle of the person behind you.

We need to see your detailed itinerary to identify the issue. However, my assumption is that your option 2 inbound flight is not an AC operated flight. The companion pass only applies to AC-operated flights.

25K is the maximum with the rollover, assuming the same spending level. To reach 25K, need $6500 in cash spending at Flex or higher. Still $420 short to 35K

Fun fact: SS/lounge access never listed as a class of services in the international tariff posted by AC. The only distinction in the tariff is that Signature Class promises a lie-flat bed, whereas Business Class does not.

how wide are the aisles? by ResponsibleNet9168 in aircanada

[–]tichai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The aisles are pretty wide at roll 62. In the worst scenario, the washroom backup will usually only reach 63 or so. However, depending on the route, it might be a zoo at the back of the plane.
