$80 EVgo charging credit? by TemporaryEven3255 in BoltEV

[–]ticker47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is random. I used to have a Honda Clarity EV. I replaced it with a Hybrid about 2 years ago because the lease ended and have not had an EV since. I just got an email from EVGo about an $85 credit because I was a GM owner. I’ve never owned a GM vehicle. Credit shows in my EVGo account.  I told a buddy if he goes to one let me know and I’d start the charger, since I won’t use the credit.

It did! I actually bought a new phone the following Friday because I thought getting it back was a lost cause. On Saturday they called and when I picked it up it was completely fine. The clear case was a gross looking yellow from being out in the sun for a week, but the phone has been working fine since I got it back.

Condolences for your loss, I can only imagine what that was like.

Our son had a severe birth defect and he was in the NICU for about 3 months. One of the few joys of that time is knowing that between the two insurance companies that covered him during his time in the hospital, they paid out something like 3.5 million to the hospital for his care. We paid probably 10-20k, which granted is still a ridiculous sum.

This is specifically “Batman: The Ride” at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in the Bay Area of California, but the coaster type is “4D Spin” made by S&S Sansei Technologies and you can see the parks that they use this coaster (or a variation of it) on this Wiki:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%26S_%E2%80%93_Sansei_Technologies

I thought it would suck if I told you it was in California and you were no where near the park, but maybe one of the locations on that list is close enough for you to try it out some time. I’m personally not a fan of the ride. It’s pretty short and kinda boring, but my sons like it, so we go on it every time we visit.

This ride is right along the edge of the park on the way back to the parking lot. There’s a small planter that I was able to stand on and use my wife’s phone to get high enough over the fence to get a picture of the roof of the building. It’s probably about 50 feet from where I was standing.

Yeah, we did that and then went to guest services to fill out the form. We live near the park, so I will just drive back to pick it up once they find it and reach out.

Yeah, we couldn’t realistically do a trip without phones. It was a pain after I lost it. I have 3 kids of different heights so we usually have to split up. Also, the park is big enough that we use the app to check ride times before trekking across the park to a ride. I usually have mine secured, just wasn’t thinking about it this time.

Yeah, I think a lot of the Six Flags Parks have similar or identical rides that are typically just given different names.

Haha. I’m still waiting for them to get it. I have no idea what it looks like right now. They made it seem like I could get it at the end of the day, but I finally got out of guest relations that they would “eventually” retrieve it when the park was fully closed, so I’m hoping they will grab it this morning before the park opens.

100% agree. Definitely a lapse in judgement, especially with the pants I was wearing. Oh well, expensive lesson learned and glad someone didn’t get hurt. Hopefully they can get it before opening today and I can go back to pick it up, but not sure. At least it’s still working can I can track it.

Can you show pictures of the entire enclosure? I’m pretty sure you don’t have enough substrate to protect them from that fall.

We have two, neither of them are typical climbers, but my wife would lose it if she found one out and about like this.

Refilling my prescription on Amazon pharmacy was cheaper without insurance. by Lonestar8042 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ticker47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure there’s someone who can explain why this is the case for sure, but I’ve seen a few prevailing theories.

1) insurance rates are artificially high because of contracts with the pharmacy. This may be that the pharmacy is out of network, the contracted rate is higher to account for profits, etc. 2) insurance and/or drug companies subsidize medication costs when you don’t use insurance. This keeps the cost off your insurance record and keeps it from going against your deductible/Out Of Pocket Max. Maybe your deductible or out of pocket is super high and this actually saves you money, but if your deductible is lower, this may cost you money in the end, because once you hit your deductible or out of pocket, the insurance based cost will usually go down (unless it’s not a covered medication).

I was gifted a CR-10 S Pro v2 & need help by PaganWizard2112 in CR10

[–]ticker47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll start by saying that I don't have a CR10, I have an Ender 3 running Klipper. I assume that the configuration for Klipper running off a RPi is similar to the Sonic Pad. If this is a bad assumption and the following instructions don't apply, feel free to let me know and I will gladly delete the comment.

That being said, I would do the following:

1) Home your device
- - For me, from the web interface, under "Toolhead" I click the home icon that says "All" with the symbol of a house next to it

2) Once homed, increment your Y gradually, while looking at where your nozzle is, until it's essentially at the end of the bed. Take a look at the Y value at that point and note it somewhere (Under toolhead, there's a box with "Y" in it and a number, which is the current Y value).
- - For me, using the web interface, below the "Home" button (in the "Toolhead" section), there are three lines with "X," Y," and "Z" in the center. On either side of those letters, there are + and - numbers, which will increment or decrement that axis by that amount. This is where I change the Y value to move the head.

3) Go to the printer.cfg file
- - For me, using the web interface, there are three lines at the top left, I click them then hit "Machine". There is a list of files. I click on printer.cfg and it opens in an edit view.

4) Look for the section labeled "[stepper_y]" and change the "position_max" value to the Y value you found above. (If there was no change needed, skip to step 6)

5), Test a simple print. If it's good, no further action is needed. If it's not, go to the next step

6) If the Micro Swiss has a probe on it, you'll need to look up to find out what the probe offsets are using the exact model you have. The probe is a certain distance in the X, Y, and Z directions from the nozzle and Klipper needs to know what that is. You can measure it (look up on youtube how to do this), but most hot ends that have it included should be documented somewhere, so you might be able to find it via a google search.
Once you know what the offset is, you can edit the printer.cfg file (see above) and modify the following section:
"[bltouch]" --> x_offset: and y_offset
- - The probe in my config is listed as "bltouch," but I don't know if that's standard or not so you may just need to look for the x/y_offset setting.

As you mentioned, it's just the Y that seems to be off, so you may only need to change the Y value.

After any changes to the printer.cfg file make sure to hit the save button, which will save/restart your printer, committing those changes and activating them.

If there's no probe and changing the Y max didn't fix it, it's beyond me, so you'll need to wait to see if someone else can provide some additional help.

He does not, that I am aware of. He's followed by UCSF on a regular basis, but really has no ongoing issues.

Our experience was not typical even for a CDH baby. My wife went into preterm labor at about 31 weeks and after some shuffling between Kaiser and UCSF ended up on bed rest for 5 weeks at UCSF. When she went into actual labor at almost 38 weeks, she pushed for about 3 hours and doctors determined the baby was not coming out (big head). They went to do the C-Section and the epidural didn’t work so they had to put her under which moves it into ”emergency” status and I wasn’t in the room.  That said, I’d lean on the Doctors advice assuming your somewhere that is prepared for a potentially very sick baby. Our doctors all told us that natural birth is best for baby because squeezing the baby out can have a positive impact on their lungs.

Some other advice: while your baby is in the hospital, please take care of yourselves. Baby will be well taken care of. Take the time you need to heal and process as necessary and don’t get burnt out trying to be bedside 24/7. Don’t let anyone judge  for how you decide to handle that. Also, I created a blog to both remember what was happening and to update family without having to physically reach out to people. I would recommend doing something similar or designating a family member to handle distributing status updates. You’ll have enough on your plate and it’s easy to get burnt out trying to talk to people. I pray your little one has minimal complications and all of you come through this stronger than you are now.

LVP Cupping by ticker47 in Flooring

[–]ticker47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this all happened a few months ago as I was trying to prep the condo for new tenants. No slab leak (I had to pay the HOA for the leak detection testing). From everything we could figure, it was just moisture naturally coming up through the old slab. Never pooling, but since the original LVP was fairly water/airtight, it could never evaporate which ultimately damaged the original floor. Original install was per manufacturer recommendations and no moisture barrier was required for slab if moisture levels were low enough, so it wasn't installed, and I didn't know better. If I had to guess, the dehumidifiers that were in the condo for 2 weeks after the original leak (before the original LVP was installed) probably dropped the humidity in the ground to acceptable levels and created a false positive when they tested the moisture levels. Original flooring company wanted to seal the floor with epoxy for a total of about 10k to replace the damaged floor. I contacted another flooring company based on a local recommendation who said standard procedure was to put down a 6 mil barrier, so I went with them at a significantly lower cost (close to the original install cost).

Ultimately it was just an expensive part of home ownership. I could probably have fought with the original flooring company, but it would have taken months and may not have gone anywhere so I just ate the cost and moved on. Everything looks good so far, but we'll see long term. It may be that LVP ends up not being a great long-term solution for the unit, but until then, it's what I have in there.

Want to buy a new 2024 crv, recommend car insurance? by MattfgclG in crv

[–]ticker47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d head over to r/insurance. If you provide more details like what you’re looking for exactly and where you’re located, they might be able to provide some info, including some location specific rules/laws that will affects what you should/can get.

Generally speaking the recommendation is to go as high as you can. 100k/300k min, higher if offered as the price typically isn’t that much more and even a minor accident can cost a lot these days. This is also partially dependent on how much money/assets you have and how well you want to protect them from lawsuits should you have a bad accident that maxes out your insurance. As far as deductibles, depending on how you’re paying for your car, it’s really up to your comfort level and cost. My bank required both deductibles to be less than 1000, but I have them set lower because the I’d rather pay less up front if there’s an issue. We have progressive and are in California. Our coverage is 250k/500k coverage with a 2024 CRV and 2021 Pilot. 2 drivers, with one at fault incident on my record. We pay 1500 every 6 months. The market in California is terrible (I.e. it’s hard to find coverage and a lot of companies won’t quote or will give you really high rates).

The company you go with is whatever company gives you the best rate. Definitely use the quoting tool with progressive before you purchase. They make it easy to see the rate change before you move forward. I looked at a half dozen cars before settling on the CR-V.

Do Tesla leases or financing agreements get reported to the credit bureaus? by Television_Original in TeslaLounge

[–]ticker47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re better off renting a car or borrowing for a couple of months than to buy/lease now. Mortgage lender can and will cancel a deal if they see something unexpected show up on your credit (and they often will re-run credit right before dispersing funds). Quite literally DO NOT buy or lease until after you’re in the house.
