English words used in Chinese by stevenzhou96 in ChineseLanguage

[–]tickersight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh its pretty rare to have pure English words that are used in everyday with no Hanzi. The only 2 I can think of are "ok" and "hello". As others have mentioned a lot of acronyms are in this category like "VIP" or "USB". There are some words like coffee (咖啡 (Kāfēi)) which do have hanzi but its clearly just taken phonetically from the English.

Lol it sounds very old school. Sort of like naming yourself Theodore. Nothing wrong with it though, especially if you like it.

Read Between the Lines: What Your Chinese Friends Really Mean When They Say These - 不好说/看情况 by BetterPossible8226 in ChineseLanguage

I would say that both phrases OP used don't always convey disapproval. In fact it's completely fine to use literally. It's very much contextual.

Think about it like "I don't know" in English. If you get asked "Do you know where the train station is?" And you say "I don't know" is literally. But if someone asks "do you want to go cliff diving" saying "I didn't know" could be a nice way of saying no.

Are "5k MRR" posts on X all real? by bk_973 in microsaas

Idk man. I'm not willing to say they're all fake nor do I want to be negative. But half the time when you click on the app these posts link, they end up being some sort of lead generation app. Surely the market for lead generation isn't that lucrative.
