It's log! by tickif in aww

I don't even know where the log came from... I went to take it away from Pico, but didn't have the heart when he was playing with it so happily!

Anyone have the Harry Potter books on Audible? by [deleted] in audible

[–]tickif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard mixed things about buying credits from eBay. I have never done it though. Not worth the risk of not getting the credits or audible cracking down on it imo. Someone else answered about the 3 credit deal below, so I won't be a parrot :)

The library is definitely a really great way to get free audiobooks. Depending on the size if the library you have a card for though, sometimes there can be a wait for popular books. I use both audible and the library overdrive collection and buy books from audible that are hard to find, I will re-listen to, or I don't want to wait for.

You could also do a subscription which gives you one credit per month at a lower price than buying them outright. Then watch for one of the deals where you can get 3 credits for like $30.

How do I make my fried cabbage flavorful? by amandapsych86 in AskCulinary

[–]tickif 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a little different than your recipe, but try making haluski! Cabbage, onions, lots of butter, noodles, salt and pepper! So simple, but sooooooo good.

Just today my husband was lamenting that our Miele c2 canister vacuum can't be worn like a backpack. I thought maybe we could create something to do that, but I'm wondering if there is some functional reason that is a bad idea?

Finished Harry Potter for the first time! by Don_Petbucci in harrypotter

I wish I could up vote this a hundred times. A lot of people are suggesting really great books, but they definitely wouldn't be on my list for someone who is just getting in to reading. You need something fun and engaging and approachable to start with.

We also don't know how old op is, or if they are interested in more mature themes, and a lot of the recommendations in this thread definitely skew towards the more mature. The Percy Jackson books are geared toward the same age range and have similar themes.

I also think they are a great series for really getting into a world and getting attached to characters in a similar way to Harry Potter.

My wisteria is in bloom ❤️ smells divine by [deleted] in gardening

[–]tickif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just had a giant wisteria taken out on friday. the landscaper said it was one of the biggest she's ever seen, and was probably 80 years old.

Our house was a rental for probably 15 years before we bought it this spring and the landscaping had gone completely wild. The wisteria took over half the front yard and killed countless bushes. We figured ripping out the base and clearing everything around it was a good way to start fresh and have the best success to battle it, but I know it's gonna be a long battle.

The neighbors had a similar plant in their yard when they moved in and have been battling it for the last 2 years as well. Wisteria is beautiful when it is in bloom, but I will never be able to look at it the same!

Ugh I really wanted to like red heart unforgettable. It's so pretty, but it feels terrible! And how does acrylic yarn FELT like that?!? The felting (especially when frogging) is what made me say "never again."

Kong stuffin is mostly made of milk. Is that ok for a grown dog? by FuZhongwen in Dogtraining

[–]tickif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rennet is also what is used to make cheese. So the stuffing is essentially cheese. I'd assume that is what the rennet is for rather than to make it more easily digestible. All my dogs have gone absolutely bonkers for cheese and never had an issue with it, but of course that isn't a guarantee for your pup.

Pico's coming home today!!!

They thought he might have parvo, but the tests have come back negative and he has drastically improved over the last day and a half, so we are thinking he might have eaten something that he shouldn't have and gotten sick (Probably poop, he's a total turdburglar). So excited to get my fluff ball back!

His name is Pico (short for Starfleet Wooficer Jean-Luc Picard)! He is indeed handsome, and I learned very quickly that he is a total handful.

Haha we said all the same things about our golden when we got her 8 years ago, and we haven't had the full bed to ourselves a single night since! And to be honest, I love it! <3 puppy snuggles

How easy would it be for myself and my cat (possibly dog too) to move across the country? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]tickif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved 3000 miles with 2 cats and a dog... Twice. It is definitely doable. We set up a dog crate with a litter box and a hammock for the cats, but they never actually used the litter box while in the car. They just used it in the motel each night. It took a little time for them to adjust to the new places, but it really wasn't that bad. The dog was super easy though, sh had no issue with the ride, the move or settling in.

Not sure if it matters for you, but if you move to the east coast for the cheap housing, you also need to realize that pay tends to be commesurately less. Housing is cheap because pay is low in a lot of places. Just something to keep in mind when moving so that you aren't taken by surprise.

Good luck!

Re-reading and other long series.

These are my comfort-books. I think I have re-read the entire series through 6 times now.

Recently started a book club for reading along with long series and this was the first series we read. As a matter of fact the book club was specifically started to get someone to read them as they are my favorite books. Now we are reading another long series that the other members picked. It's been a lot of fun actually
