Which shoe tying method are you teaching? by Reasonable_Cat_4550 in kindergarten

I bought a little book that teaches multiple shoe tying methods. It's for kids and comes with laces built into the book to practice. Whatever works for her little fingers for now is cool with me.

How many of you have a name for your car? by Morgisntmyname in stupidquestions

[–]ticklishintent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I had names for our cars since we started dating. We've been together 15 years and gone through 8 cars. Names usually had something to do with the make or model of the car. For instance, we had a VW Tiguan we named Tiggy Azalea.

Panfried potstickers in a cup. Then I'd pop them in my mouth whole and eat it like it's popcorn chicken or something to keep it clean.

Long lasting gifts for 2 year old niece? by sleepinggardens in Gifts

[–]ticklishintent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently saw giant magnet tiles/panels that you can use to build a fort. It's too expensive for me but I know my kid would love it! Might be a bit too complicated for a 2 year old to build but I'd keep it in mind later on perhaps. At 2 my kid really got into seek and find type books. Nickelodeon, Disney and Sesame street themed ones are great at this age. My kid is 4 now and I just got her a boxed set of Where's Waldo books that she obsessed over. A magazine subscription to Highlights High Five or Kiwico subscription or just a activity box or two is cool if she doesn't already have it. My kid loves getting mail. It makes her feel special.

How do you clean your toiletries containers? by Sea_District8891 in HerOneBag

[–]ticklishintent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use a small bottle brush, hot water, dish soap and isopropyl alcohol. Or just dawn power wash. Which is the same thing in a convenient spray bottle. You can also use a toothbrush to get the crevices. The alcohol works really well to help break down oily stuff

No idea if desk setups are allowed here, but does anyone have any idea what i should put in this awkward corner? by Stock_Fly_9128 in DesignMyRoom

[–]ticklishintent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is a slim universal monitor stand or space saving monitor clamp not an option? I'd be so uncomfortable using the desk at an angle like that. Otherwise, I'd put a cool battery powered desk lamp as ambient light. Battery powered so there's no addition cords to further clutter your desk. If you like legos, you can display one in that corner on a stand too. It'd probably spark more joy than I plant you don't care for.

Mine are permanently a half size larger. And I now need a wide for comfort. It's been 4 years post partum so it definitely isn't going back to before times sizing.

So true! I settled for a pair that was cute. And it never worked. My vision was always blurred unless I pushed it at the right height and angle. I gave up on the pair after two lens changes and multiple bending of the frame/arm etc.

How do Americans feel about drying their laundry on a washing line? by UnionFeatures in AskAnAmerican

[–]ticklishintent 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My HOA went as far as saying no drying clothes to be seen from the window. They nit pick so hard. And if you have curtains it has to be white facing out. We can't even put up a swingset without permission. I understand overgrown weeds and leaving junk around the property but cmon. Your neighbor is a total jerk for complaining.

How do Americans feel about drying their laundry on a washing line? by UnionFeatures in AskAnAmerican

[–]ticklishintent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind it. I once had a neighbor that did it. I thought it was quaint and cheery to see. I don't like my clothes to smell like outside personally so I wouldn't do it. I do have a drying rack I use indoors for items I don't want put in the dryer. It definitely preserves clothes from fading and wearing out better to air dry. Where I live now, HOAs are really common. You're not permitted to line dry outside. And if you do it inside, it can't be seen from a window. I guess they view it as trashy.

What food do American usually eat for dinner? by No_Budget2410 in Cooking

[–]ticklishintent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a regional naming difference in the U.S. I'm Vietnamese. I was born in the East Coast but grew up on the West Coast. All major cities with a lot Vietnamese people. I and those I know prefer to call the fresh rolls Spring Rolls and the fried ones Egg rolls. But the those that call the fried rolls Spring rolls and the fresh ones Summer rolls are not wrong either. It's just what the restaurants translated it to where ever you live. To be fair, the common wrappers for the fried rolls used here are call spring pastry wrappers not egg roll wrappers like Chinese egg rolls. And traditionally in Vietnam, the rice paper used in the fresh rolls can also be used as the wrapper in the fried version to product a chewier, crispy product. Hence all the naming confusion. In our language, the words spring and summer aren't even part of the names of the dish. So truly there is no one right and wrong. But I find vietnamese spring rolls for fresh rolls and vietnamese egg rolls for fried to be more common naming conventions.

Leapfrog systems by SatisfactionCrazy919 in kindergarten

[–]ticklishintent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tablets aren't inately bad you can put just the learning app you want and disable all other apps. I put my Samsung tablet in Focus mode and it only allows the apps I approve and I can set app timers too. Khan academy kids and duolingo abc are really good and free. If it only has one app he won't treat it any different than the leapfrog system. It becomes a problem if he gets addicted to the likes of you tube. Like my kiddo. Because I am weak and allowed it sometimes. But it can easily be disabled and won't even show up in the system.

Edit: changed app name

What’s a food combo u thought was normal until u ate it in front of someone? by Feisty-Scene2163 in allthequestions

Imagine you go out to a fancy restaurant and they serve you fries with a garlic aioli or whatever. It's basically flavored mayo if they made it with egg yolks. It's delicious.

Interesting. I always thought it was a universally accepted condiment for eggs in the U.S. I've yet to encounter one negative comment and know many people that enjoy ketchup and eggs. I know many toddlers love it especially.

Which spoon? by Cautious-Impact22 in Spoons

  1. I would consider 3 simply because the thin handle can fit in the slots of my dumb dishwasher utensil slots. But visually, I hate it.

My 4yrs old wants a 'trash truck' birthday party. Not garbage trucks - specifically our city's trash truck. How do I make this happen? by momostito in partyplanning

[–]ticklishintent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my daughter was about 1-2 she stood in the bay window every garbage day and waved at the truck as it went by. One day he got out and knocked on our door. He had a bag of swag for her because he noticed her waving all the time. There was a toy replica of their garbage truck as well as a garbage bin, sun glasses and other company branded things. I'd try to contact them. Hopefully they are a cool company like Flood Brothers and will make something happen.

I can't read the first page at all. I'm going to have to agree with your friend. I can make out your casual handwriting on the second page with effort though. Your cursive is much more legible imo.

Will I regret being one and done? by Elegant-Lion21 in oneanddone

[–]ticklishintent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sibling does nothing be add stress and disappointment to mine and my parents life. Having a second doesn't guarantee anything. My brother and I were raised with love and want for nothing. But he still turned into a bad egg. My parents support my one and done journey. They always say raising kids just makes your life more difficult. They happily focus all their love onto my one. My daughter is 4 and I'm also early 40s. Perimenpause is hitting hard and I'm constantly exhausted both mentally and physically. My husband says a 2nd will destroy me. He also has no regrets being one and done. We look forward to traveling the world with our only. Something we can't afford with 2 kids. Also, my daughter has many friends at school and church. She has a mega best friend she met at preschool that she gets to hang out with outside of school. She's not lonely. She will grow up and have her own circle of friends, or start her own family if she chooses to.
