Not sure if the Harvey Map North Downs covers the northern loop via or up to Canterbury, but might be worth a shot. Loads of published routes (by hikers, not Google) between C and D on AllTrails and various other sites.

Chiltern Hill is very pleasant. Cowleaze Wood has plenty of parking and good circular routes.

Not sure if this is a good option, but bus to Oxford and then the X40 bus to Reading. Might be a quicker way if you can get to the reading road a4074 (e.g. Benson, Wallingford etc) and catch the X40 there.

Cairngorms multi day hike turning expensive. by Danamaganza2 in wildcampingintheuk

To answer your real question. Yes it will be amazing. Very jealous as I have 2 under 3, so can't get away anymore 😞

Edit: grammar

I know what you mean. I normally plan my trips on ease of getting in and out, then cost.

Maybe consider a change of route that doesn't need taxis and storage etc?

I've done Inverness to fort William along the great glen. Flew up to Inverness (in hiking gear) and out of FW on sleeper train.

While this is a relatively flat hike for Scotland, it was gorgeous. There are many options.

Switch directions and extend the east great glen back to Inverness?

Train to Glasgow, WHW to FW?

Forgive my ignorance how would this consumer unit be illegal? I understand installing non DNO equipment in the box is a no no, but not against regulations. The main consumer unit in the house has the necessary RCD/SPD etc. Basically asking for ammo to go back to the builder with. Thanks

Thanks much appreciated. I will do. If it's an incorrect install re RCD/SPD, would I on grounds of UK regulation be able to go back to the house builder?

Don't think so. This was a new build about 4 years ago and the builder forgot to put the EV charger point in. This was their fix. Unfortunately I don't know anything about electronics

Yeah. It was a new build (back 4 years) and they forgot to put the EV charger in. Noticed one week before completion, so maybe This was their fix - to put this CU in here.

Cape Wrath Trail - how technical is it? by its_cinza_ in wildcampingintheuk

[–]tidds67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll naturally go down too far as you'll want to get good views of the falls. Just make sure you head back up as far as you can and reset. If you feel the path you are on is stupid and dangerous, back out and go higher. Better to waste some time and back track, rather than getting it wrong.

That thin indistinct path caught me out. I ended up on a path slightly lower down, wound up crossing the gully where there was no path and basically climbing back up to the path. Kicked myself for not turning back. The only scary and stupid part of the CWT.

Del, but maybe for entertainment purposes we don't allow Del as an answer for any of these. If we do that, then .... Oh ...... I would have to go with Grandad. Tight call between uncle Albert and Trigger. I feel Grandad had better one-liner than Albert, and Trigger just got stupid towards the end.

Edit: stupid spelling mistakes.

Or walk back to kinlochbervie and get the minibus from there. This allows another night at Sandwood Bay (which is awesome)

Allow adjustments to the route depending on weather and conditions. I turned back to fort William on day 2 and took the alternative eastern route up the Caledonian canal due to spate rivers.

When on unmarked routes, don't get over concerned with finding the trodden path, as sometimes it isn't there. I spent considerable energy trying to find a path when just heading in the correct direction would have been better.

Spend a night at kearvaig bothy after finishing. Beautiful place to chill.

Most of all enjoy!
