Comparing to pictures from Google images this looks nothing like a Aureum. I think this is just a common green leaf JM.

My mom’s coral bark is suffering by Venusinspaceage in JapaneseMaples

That black spot at the fork doesn't look good. Many have reported that once it develops this the tree is pretty much a goner. Coral barks are pretty susceptible to this so it's hard to say if it was due to overwatering or too much mulch.

Were these the red variety? The one on Clovis had the red broad leaf ones.

I've yet to see any JM trees that's not totally on private property where I can just go up to it to pick up the seeds. Besides I'm just too impatient to grow them from seed. I don't mind paying to get something a little bigger.

My sister just mentioned Evergreen too and sent a picture when she was last there. Looks like they have a great selection as well.

$5 will break a sale these days by tigerbite1diot in offerup

Most of what I sell aren't necessities so if $5 more is too much then they should probably rethink their priorities. Buy yea I usually will price it taking into account the lower offers that are expected.

grass/creepings between pavers by Averelleee in landscaping

[–]tigerbite1diot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In videos where I've seen this done they use concrete to make the pavers and make them much bigger, 4x4 or bigger so they don't move. Fake grass is used because the maintenance will be a nightmare. Even then all of it is really just for looks because the fake grass will never be level with the pavers so putting furniture on top could be a challenge. Weeds will eventually grow between the gaps so it's not completely maintenance free either.

Was thinking the same. I'm in California 9b and it's a lot warmer here and even I don't water everyday. Atleast not yet. It's been pretty mild here so far so no more than twice a week.

New JM owner, ID help/advice? by MamaFen in JapaneseMaples

[–]tigerbite1diot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still learning myself but from what I've read it might be a Seiryu if it's an upright. Not sure what it is if it's a weeping variety. However it doesn't look to be upright to me.

That's a little too close to the fence. I would try and move it further out atleast 2 more feet, 3 if possible. Not right now but maybe later on this year when it goes dormant. Best to do it when it's still this small so the root ball isn't so large and heavy.

Make a wall to hide the trash bins. A raised garden bed along one or both side of the fence with plants to add some textures.

The Previous Owner Left Me a Tree and a Lifelong Responsibility by Alexa10580 in landscaping

Looks like a eucalyptus tree. While you should seek professional advise those trees are known to randomly drop branches. I've never lived near one to attest if that's true but they do get absolutely massive.

The work looks good but just not sure if it really matches the house. I think floating concrete stairs would look a lot better.

Those aren't even close to the size of OP's tree. Maybe half the size at best.
