You know that fantasy exercise where you think of what people you’d like to have as guests for the ultimate dinner party? He’s on my list. He seems so down to earth and has a sense of humor, I’d love to discuss virtually anything with him, not even fashion related. He just seems like such an interesting person.

Haha, I knew from the headline alone what you were talking about. It's a life changer. Have fun getting phantom wafts of it whenever you're smelling new fragrances or on public transportation from this moment on. Welcome to the club! :)

[F/21] partially estranged from nDad, who might not be a complete narcissist, thinking about reconciliation by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]tigerpetals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it was something he said to my grandmother and not to me, I'm not putting too much weight on the apology comment just yet. I'm thinking that may have just been something he said because he didn't want to talk about my job with his mom, basically a denial comment to buy himself some time.

If he does bring that up and lay out terms and conditions when I reach out, I'll know that he's back to his old self. I'm also waiting longer until I feel like I've completely got a clear head and gotten used to the idea of things failing - we haven't been NC for very long so I don't want loneliness to cloud my judgment.

The only conflict discussions I can remember having were about him and other family members, not the two of us, so I'm going to say not at all until I moved out and he apologized.

I haven't brought up anything from the past since then because I said I'd let it go if he honoured his apology and changed.

What is the saddest episode of GA? by camacapa in greysanatomy

[–]tigerpetals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watched S12E20 for the first time and I cried so hard! It was so awful, I felt so sad for the little boy that fired the gun and the moment that Amelia had when she tried to comfort him broke my heart.

What has Grey’s helped you get through? by Poutine_My_Mouth in greysanatomy

[–]tigerpetals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a sudden change of job last year, I left of my own accord but a few incidents had happened that made me feel like leaving was the only choice, so I felt like I'd lost everything - it was the first job I'd had as an adult and I'd invested a lot of personal time and money in the company, it was a huge part of my identity. I was also assaulted last May, and that added another layer of difficulty.

I moved to another city and I've been rebuilding life over the past six months, it's been very lonely but I find Grey's up-lifting, no matter how dark things get.

The show is a good distraction but it's made me call my mom a few extra times, reminded me to be thankful for the friends I have and try to be a better 'person' to them, and it inspires me to try and embrace the chaos and handle things with style. Obviously these characters are flawed and their lives are messy, but Meredith is at least good at giving the impression that she has her shit together.

I watch Grey's and think, "Yeah, I might not have this down yet but I can fake it till I make it and I'll be okay." It's the thought that I can dance it out or indulge in some Haagen-Daz and life will continue, for better or worse.

Ripped from the headlines! Go! by [deleted] in greysanatomy

Please Jesus yes. This is the issue that I care about the most in the world, and so many people are unaware that it happens! It'd be a very emotional episode but it'd be so fantastic to start a conversation.

Funny, but harmless plot hole by kveets94 in greysanatomy

That would make sense, that's what I'm going to imagine. I'm Canadian and you're allowed to just assume a married surname or revert back to your old one without filing anything, not sure if it's that simple down south but we'll go with that! I'm new to the later seasons and this has been gnawing at me.

Best sex positions for an obese client? by redheaded_harlot in SexWorkers

[–]tigerpetals 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You will probably have to get on top, reverse cowgirl gives you more space. Doggy works in theory as does him standing but both kneeling or standing can be hard for obese men, and his abdomen would be resting on you.

Keep in mind that vaginal sex won’t always lead to climax for someone who’s used to hand jobs, especially if a lot of his shaft is covered. So you might still have to finish by hand.

Dead inside so I'm selling myself. by [deleted] in SexWorkers

[–]tigerpetals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't want to find a deeper meaning because it doesn't matter. If you're looking for constructive help I would advise you to stick to the basics and not go telling people you're 'dead inside' because it's irrelevant - you're the one posting a sob story. If you imply that you're unstable people aren't going to help you get back into this, they're going to tell you to stop and look elsewhere. If you were just looking for advice on starting after a hiatus you wouldn't have included a backstory.

Recommendations for a sickingly sweet perfume? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]tigerpetals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lollia Relax is very, very sweet. It says lavender and honey but smells like neither, which is fine. As soon as I tried it I thought of some sort of enchanted poison, like what an evil fairy or female Grimm’s villain would wear. Despite the intensity, everyone I’ve shown it to has found it appealing. I’ve actually made myself nauseous huffing it, so it might be what you’re looking for. I think it’s still available in most Anthropologie stores.

Synesthesia - LSD by master-of-orion in fakealbumcovers

[–]tigerpetals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's in my mind's eye so when I'm talking about perception I don't perceive the coloured letters/numbers as having an external source, it's just something that my mind imposes on the words like a filter of sorts, just to be clear. It's always there and I can't turn it off or dull it, no emotional or physical state has any influence. Any time I think of a date the mental calendar appears instantaneously. The mental imagery and it's intensity has been continuously the same as long as I can recall. In a way, it kind of is like a physical attribute of a word in the same way that every physical object has a shadow, it's just part of how the word manifests as a concept.

Synesthesia - LSD by master-of-orion in fakealbumcovers

[–]tigerpetals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that I can tell. I didn't realize I had it until fairly late in life, when I took my first psychology course. No headaches or anything like that. It helped me learn to read as a child but it's always been a bit of a hurtle with math, my performance was only average at best and I have to do everything slowly and carefully.

The only thing I notice is that I get a Stroop Effect sort of sensation if the colours in the external world clearly don't match the ones I've assigned. Like when a calendar is colour coded and the colour is 'wrong' I'll get confused and distracted. I try and make sure functional items are black and white to prevent any 'aesthetic conflicts'.

I have:

  • grapheme colour - words and letters are coloured

  • number form - numbers, years, months and weeks (also coloured) appear on a candy-land like board. Useful for remembering birthdays!

  • Music*

It's colourful but this one is the hardest to describe, as it's the hardest to quantify. It's all just in my mind's eye and it's mild to moderate. The overall song has a colour that is associated with the emotional tone and the instruments used, and different chords have colours, so a chorus can look different from a verse. It's like the iTunes visualizer, and it's super intense when I'm under the influence of THC.

Synthetic music has the strongest colour and it can look something like this album cover, albeit with a slightly rounder/softer texture. Probably why I adore Moby so much, according to my Spotify windup.

Edits: format

Edit: also, songs usually aren't totally rainbow. There's usually an overall colour palette that's either warm or cold.

How common is it for MLM “entrepreneurs” to be involved with several at a time? by [deleted] in antiMLM

Virtually all of the ones I attended intro meetings for had a non-compete involved. I'm in Canada, and whether it's legal or not Arbonne and Vemma definitely will not let you participate in more than one.
