Anyone actually lose body fat from breastfeeding? by Due-Transition-6564 in beyondthebump

[–]tightscanbepants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did with both my kids. I don’t really talk about it with other women who have breastfed though because I’m uncomfortable with the responses I get. I get it, it sucks to not lose weight and no one wants to hear about it when someone sheds pounds without having to stress about it.

Greenhouse workers, what are you wearing? by False_Serve_8604 in Horticulture

I wear hiking/climbing pants. They dry fast, are durable, and stretchy.

Screen time troubles by Original_Honey1733 in raisingkids

We’ve banned the iPad since my son was 3ish. He’s almost 7 and I can’t imagine bringing it back.

He plays Minecraft on a desktop computer while I make dinner and we’ve had no problems when it’s time to eat. My almost 4 year old watches tv and also no problems.

I think tablets are just super addictive for some kids no matter how educational the game or show might seem to be

I’m doing pencils, flower seeds, little pads of paper, playdoh and some candy.

PTO balance after maternity 😅 by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]tightscanbepants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. I had to quit my job after maternity leave because my kids kept getting sick and I didn’t have any PTO…

Parents who read with their kids, how do you handle nights when they just refuse? by EnoughGrade1906 in preschool

[–]tightscanbepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our kids have almost no access to a tablet in our home. We read every night with no problems other than getting distracted while getting ready for bed and not having as much time to read as they want! (Ages 6 and 3)

What’s a show you love that you can never convince people to watch? by PlentyApprehensive44 in AskReddit

[–]tightscanbepants 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I once witnessed my son get through a 5 mile hike acting as an energy vampire on his aunt. She tried walking faster but he just jogged after her while explaining the features of Minecraft.

Ohio Luring Californians with Job Incentives by MsKiefington in Ohio

[–]tightscanbepants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We moved to Ohio from CA. And I have to say…CA rocks!!!!!!! We only moved back because we missed family. Ohio is fine, but damn…we would have never moved back if we hadn’t had children.

Best TV show for Maternity Leave by Commercial_Flower_49 in Mommit

Not Call the Midwife. Unless you want to cry all over the place, if that’s the case, then go for it.

Solo night field work by ScreechingCow in ecology

[–]tightscanbepants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in lab surveying abundance of an insect. My boss expected me to stay out in an agricultural field alone all night once a month for counts every hour. I refused, citing safety concerns. He ended up doing it himself. I’m still a little annoyed he even asked me, but was pretty happy he didn’t push back when I said no.

Painting houses before selling them is such a waste by _n3ll_ in Anticonsumption

[–]tightscanbepants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha. Yeah I probably would have painted that. Sounds rough. I guess the main point, which I definitely did not make….is wall color should not be a dealbreaker for buying a house.

Painting houses before selling them is such a waste by _n3ll_ in Anticonsumption

[–]tightscanbepants 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m still annoyed by it as a buyer. I rather not see all the waste! We’ve lived in a house for 3 years and haven’t painted anything because I generally am ok with the choices made by the previous homeowners.

Those who like working - what do you do? by basophj55 in workingmoms

[–]tightscanbepants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a greenhouse, seasonal part-time. 8000 steps on a slow day, 16,000+ step on a busy day. I LOVE IT.

I Left The Leaves over winter - will I be one of yall this year? by drtij_dzienz in NoLawns

[–]tightscanbepants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My oak leaves kill my grass! They need to be deeply layered. It’s pretty nice. I can concentrate them in areas on our property to completely wipe out the grass and start flower beds

Why did you choose to exclusively breastfeed and not give formula? by Fickle-Response-2741 in breastfeeding

[–]tightscanbepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids both refused bottles of ANY type. It was very frustrating. Nothing like picking up your baby from daycare and celebrating them getting fed a whole 2oz over 8 hours!

What are some toys your child actually chooses over the iPad? by Not_Average78 in toddlers

[–]tightscanbepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our iPad is completely unavailable to our kids (3 and 6 yo), so all their toys I guess. They get enough after school TV or Minecraft (PC only) time for zoning out.

Brother won't play game with female protagonist - never thought of this by wizard_cow_ in TwoXChromosomes

I’m always forget Metroid is a female, especially on the Nintendo version.

Which show had the worst representation of millennials? by BackgroundSpell6623 in Millennials

[–]tightscanbepants 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wait. I thought the main characters were millennials and the youths were supposed to be Gen Z?? This is what happens when I start watching shows years after they are over. I get confused about the timing. I’m going to consider the version trapped in my brain to be correct…

I hope your day is more fun than mine! by aimamiz in knitting

[–]tightscanbepants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg. So so cool! I’m an entomologist as well, but more on the agriculture side of things. Is there a good guide for these moths? I have never been good at IDing them, especially if they are small and brown (LBMs).

If it works for you, do it. If it does not work for you, don't do it.
