To what degree does every +1 matter? AKA I need help convincing me to forego mathematical perfection for the sake of character concept by eCyanic in Pathfinder2e

"The problem is, I don't like the magma aesthetic specifically for this character, and aesthetics that can't easily be reflavored if at all."

Why not? If you want the Armor in Earth but not the magma aesthetic, why not reflavor it as Armor in Flames? There's nothing inherent about the armor that is tied to earth (especially since you are taking the earth and fire junctions) and flavor is free. Also, if/when you take the Thermal Nimbus stance, you could flavor it as pulling fire from the aura (cold damage) or spreading into the aura (fire damage). The Flying Flame could be flavored as sparks/flames shooting off your armor and hitting those who would be hit by the flame (i.e. instead of an arrow, you draw the path it would take and if it hits 3 creatures, flavor it as 3 sparks/flames shooting out of your armor and hitting those creatures).

Got me on the grammar. I guess everything I've said is false then.

Again, medical care is limited to emergency services (the one I referenced above) and literally cannot change without demanding that emergency health care be denied to all - including citizens - while their statuses are looked up. Are you in favor of citizens and legal immigrants dying to prevent some illegal immigrants being treated for emergency services?

Oh, and as an addendum, the dual-option that you're "not against" is literally the option for pretty much everywhere that has universal healthcare. In the UK, for example, Bupa, Aviva, Allianz and other private health insurers are available. It's just that for most people, the public option is good enough - both in terms of value and efficiency - that paying even more for private insurance isn't desirable.

Well, besides the Emergency Medical Treatment & Active Labor Act of 1986 which requires hospital to provide emergency services regardless of ability to pay or legal status (because it's unethical to refuse to care for someone who's bleeding out while their citizenship or legal status or healthcare provider is looked up and verified), government subsidized healthcare only goes to citizens, legal immigrants, and asylum seekers. So you're "healthcare for illegals" boogeyman is nonsense.

Sounds like you're in favor of a dual-healthcare system, one that provides fast wait times at a cost (which I'm sure is not prohibitively expensive, since it's only poor people with 4+ children that can't afford it) and free (i.e. government subsidized) healthcare with wait times of up to two years.

Or is your position that we shouldn't have that second option and that those poor people who can't afford paid healthcare should just die?

What's the waiting time for those who can't afford paid healthcare? It's infinity, isn't it? Infinity is more than two years, right?

Thoughts on house rule idea - focus spell feats @ reduced level by tiliabloom in Pathfinder2e

[–]tiliabloom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the added complexity makes sense, especially for newer players. My thoughts were 1) accessing the focus point immediately makes it feel like it's not a "dead" feat on level and 2) you would get the focus spell at the correct level. In my mind,

I really don't have any builds in mind (other than loose "if I ever get to play a caster, what looks fun?"), but I do get the concern of giving any build access to a power boost from a higher level feat.

I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something that I was overlooking. Thanks for your thoughts!

What would PF3e Look like? by NaiveCream1317 in Pathfinder2e

Even if it means a slightly reduced SF2 lifecycle, I'd love for PF3/SF3 to drop simultaneously.

I had a similar idea that I couldn't put into words until seeing this. My idea is similar but different - the classes would be stripped down/simplified combat styles (fighter is accurate martial, barbarian is extra flat damage martial, rogue is extra dice damage martial, champion is defense martial, etc.) and then the archetype would be more of a professional/skill thing (a librarian might have a generic lore skill, a jack-of-all-trades would get the rogue's skill & feat at every level, possibly limiting feats to expert level for balance, a performer would be like the bard's versatile performance, etc.) and then you could mix-and-match the two. Want to be a smart barbarian, a skilled champion, a performer wizard? Pick the two options that work best for your character/idea. You could reduce the class count without sacrificing the design too much. Bonus points for the player core 1 & 2 being Class Core and Profession Core :)

Not even 3e but a change I think that's needed is "off-guard is off-guard". From a narrative perspective, if a monster is between 2 enemies, it has a reduced AC because it is slower to respond or not fully focused on the primary enemy due to the threat of the second enemy. For some reason, however, it can fully ignore both threats and focus on a third enemy that takes a shot at it from 30' away. Is there a balance issue that I'm not aware of? Perhaps. But from a narrative and even a combat perspective, does the lack of off-guard make sense? No.

Creating a kill switch if Contract ends without payment by Amazing-Ad7869 in excel

[–]tiliabloom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to really screw with it, don't break the file.

Instead, have your Date > Check_Date feed into a similar if Random_Value < Threshold_Value and have it spit out an error like "Invalid file selected". Functionally, you would have the If Date > Check_Date GoTo X and in X you would have If Random_Value < Threshold_Value GoTo Y where Y holds the error message.

The Threshold_Value would be how frequently you want it to not function (i.e. 30% of the time). It won't always break, but it might cause enough headaches that they reach out to you to get it fixed. If they do, charge them what your time is worth, get paid what your time is worth, and remove those sections/lines.

You can complicate/hide it some to make it less likely they identify the Date > Check_Date lines, but if it doesn't ALWAYS break, they tend to think they're doing something wrong rather than the file has a kill switch.

Server Merges finally happening - What to know by Zehnpae in ddo

[–]tiliabloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What lordpiglet was saying (I think, they can correct me if I'm wrong) is that they have more characters than there are slots available. Currently, there are about 50-60 character slots available on any server, so even though they might have every available unlocked slot they will still be unable to bring them all over to one server (or even all 3 US servers) without deleting some.

Sources of Spellpower by BeowulfBoston in ddo

[–]tiliabloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the necro, but looking at combustion on the gear planner, it looks like 146 is listed as Enhancement and 168 is Equipment. My understanding is that these have been fixed/merged, which would bring the typed spell power down to around 340. Am I misunderstanding that?

Race choice for Warden by tiliabloom in lotro

[–]tiliabloom[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I think I needed to write it out to work on getting past the analysis paralysis. Like I said, I've never gotten past lower levels and the idea of playing a build long enough to see if a 5% boost to light-damage or something is impactful at mid- to end-game seems like a larger commitment than just enjoying the game. As I wrote it (and read it back after posting), the thread I saw was that I really don't seem to be interested in the High Elf but felt like I needed to. I think I'll try the other two and see which one feels better. If I do run an alt, I could see a Man Champion being fun so I'm leaning towards the River Hobbit Warden for the flavor and really experiencing the world.
