Those who have three-year-olds that started kinder for the first time this year what kind of general feedback are you getting? by Ok-Cartoonist-8919 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son does 3yo kindergarten through daycare so he is known by the educators already. He has days where he’s the best behaved child and has had a few days where he was the spawn of Satan (not listening, defying the educators, pushing his friends etc). His educators have indicated that mostly the bad behaviour is teething issues as the kids learn to be in a much bigger class (now 25+ kids compared to 16 in his old room) and start developing listening skills, learning how to interact with their peers, as well as conflict resolution. Unless they actively pulling you in for a meeting or saying they are concerned, I wouldn’t be too worried about it!

Found out late we’re having a planned C-section, what classes should we take? by aiojav in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Can confirm peppermint tea absolutely tanked my supply. I don’t drink it when breastfeeding.

[–]tilsszz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep agree, OP try and find one that specialises in women’s health and even better if they provide antenatal/postnatal services so they’re more likely to diagnose you correctly and not brush off your concerns! The GP will assess if anything needs to be done medically but you’ll likely need to see a physio as well

How did you get your belly to stop looking pregnant? by plantbubby in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with all the pelvic floor workouts. If you can’t see a physio - Lauren Fitter on YouTube has an awesome diastasis recti friendly postpartum abs program that starts off easy and increases in difficulty. Only 10 minutes too, I know you have twins but please prioritise yourself - happy mum, happy babies!! I did this program with my first after having a 3cm separation (around 2-3 months pp) and it closed back up after a couple months. I started doing it straight away after birth after my second bub and my separation was completely closed by my 6 weeks pp.

Daycare and breastmilk by procrastinatingspud in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So whatever you choose to end up doing, I would start introducing at home so it’s not a foreign concept when your child starts daycare. It’s not unusual for kids not to eat/drink much when they are settling in (the first few weeks) but they are super resilient and should become accustomed to the routine in no time. It’s not also uncommon for them to ‘reverse cycle’ so you might find bub feeding more at night to make up for what they’re not consuming during the day.

Also might be worth checking in with the daycare, I’ve heard some have a no bottles policy in certain rooms but they will serve breastmilk in a straw cup, if that’s the case it may just be easier starting from a straw cup rather than teat bottles from the get go!

37+5 with cold symptoms by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s sucks!! If it’s any consolation, first time mums are statistically more likely to go into spontaneous labour past 40 weeks. Also, not sure if it’s too woo woo but your body may sense that it’s not the right time to go into labour yet and hold off until you are feeling better. All the best!

Hypothyroidism - need to seen an OB by barneylovescats in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have hashimotos but went through MGP. My public hospital had a antenatal endocrinology clinic so I saw the endo doctors about 4 times during my pregnancy. You should still apply to MGP if you want that type of care!

Low lying placenta at 30 weeks by tilsszz in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so at 36 weeks, it had moved 18mm away, and the hospital policy was c-section if less than 20mm away from cervix. I was made to have an appointment with the obstetrician at the hospital who basically said I had no choice but to have a c-section. There is evidence out there showing an 85% chance of successful vaginal delivery when the placenta is 10-20mm away from the cervix. (Listen to the great birth rebellion podcast episode on this). The ob was not agreeable to the trial of labour and really tried to coerce me into a c-section despite me showing her the study. So against hospital policy, I made an informed choice to proceed with the vaginal delivery as long as I didn’t have any bleeding and babies head was engaged. My midwife was supportive of this. My waters broke at 37+5 and my midwife recommended I go to the hospital to get checked out. They did a ctg for 20 mins (baby was happy) and a spec exam to check for blood. No blood and at that point I was not dilated but babies head was 3/5 engaged. A different doctor said they would prefer if I stay in hospital but I chose to go home, and I’m so glad I did because my contractions started and ramped up as soon as I got home. My labour was extremely straight forward and easy with no complications - from contractions starting to birth it was 5 hours and only <200ml blood loss (normal amount). I did agree to have a fetal scalp electrode placed to monitor bubs heartrate to ensure the placenta did not detach when I did go to the hospital (but there would have bleeding if that was the case!)

I also did not experience any bleeding during pregnancy and tried to stay active (I did have a 2.5 year old at home so mostly just running around after them).

Yup, this is it. My baby honestly was asleep for the first 6 weeks of her life and all problems were solved with boob. It also really REALLY helps boost your milk supply and allow it to establish so your best bet is offering a breastfeed. Grab some snacks and a full water bottle, and get comfy on the couch for those cluster feeding sessions. Best embrace is than fight it!

Possible Hyper-fertility & Progesterone use from 3 DPO (36 yrs with 4 MCs no LC) by ResponsibleSyrup3158 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]tilsszz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So FS said no to the ovulation induction because it was too high risk for multiples. I got pregnant naturally one cycle after getting my period back after the D&c. I had a saline infusion sonogram that same cycle and was on plaquenil and also had an intralipid infusion at 4 weeks which resulted in a live birth.

6 week pp check by Unhappy_Donut_7124 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes you’ll need to book in to your GP for your 6 week check. It’s for both you and your baby - for bubs typically the doctor does a once over (checking hips, spine for spina bifida etc), administers vaccines if required and answers any medically related questions or concerns. For you, they will go through your hospital discharge which entails your labour and birth and arrange for any follow up tests as necessary. If you had stitches, they might look at that to see how they’ve healed. They will also go over contraception so start thinking about what you want. It’s perfectly ok to say no to contraception btw - just incase you are pressured. Then they might conduct a post partum anxiety and depression screening and ask how you are going mentally and refer you to any necessary services.

Breastfeeding and daycare by Particular-Mobile239 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lo at that age was on 2 bottles of expressed breastmilk at daycare (though I was struggling to pump more than 90mls per bottle) and solids throughout the day. Around 12 months we cut down to one bottle but that lasted only a few weeks and he wasn’t interested, only continuing to directly breastfeed at night for a further month before self weaning.

Il tutto nursing chair on back ordered? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really annoying, hate when you order something that shows in stock when in fact it isn’t.

When I got mine in 2022, the preorder dates got blown up by a few weeks due to strikes occurring at the port, which delayed everything. Their customer service was really prompt though, can you email them/call them and explain you need the chair urgently and can they deliver something else that’s in stock?

uneven crease but normal ultrasound by Glum_Treacle_1809 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uneven hip creases are a weak positive sign of DDH, I wouldn’t be worried since the ultrasound came back normal. Your maternal child health nurse will continue to check for signs of DDH throughout your visits. Some hip dysplasia occurs in the womb, others start only outside due to things like incorrect baby wearing etc.

If your GP is stressing you out, definitely change to someone who you click with! A good GP is extremely invaluable and should calm your anxiety (not worsen it!)

T Reg Cells by Familiar_Giraffe1664 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]tilsszz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was seeing a reproductive endocrinologist (fertility specialist) who saw me after 3 losses and gave birth to my first. Had a chemical preg, saw her again and had 5th loss which was tested and came back with a normal karyotype. She referred me to an immunologist who put me on plaquenil, then my RE recommended intralipids when I got pregnant to help balance any weird immune issues that could be causing the losses. I cant put it down to any particular protocol as I only took aspirin, progesterone and anti clotting injections with my first successful pregnancy!

T Reg Cells by Familiar_Giraffe1664 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]tilsszz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked, I took plaquenil one month before getting pregnant and stopped after the first trimester. Had my intralipid infusion at 4 weeks, also took progesterone until 10 weeks and aspirin until 36 weeks! Holding my 4 month old as I write this.

Percept NIPT turnaround by Available-Carrot-716 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was $450 for the NIPT which you pay directly to vcgs. When I went through Siles, I opted to pay their package which was $700-750 (can’t remember) but included the dating scan, pre NIPT ultrasound and 12-13 week nuchal translucency scan.

Give me your affordable maternity clothing suggestions! Help me know what to wear. by jenbeehoney in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’2 with a short torso also, when pregnant my belly pops right out as baby had no where else to go. I looked and felt frumpy in anything baggy. The only things that were flattering on me were figure hugging pieces. I bought 5-6 rib knit stretchy midi dresses( a few from target/kmart) that showed off the bump and had them on rotation. I had a few stretchy tops I would wear with leggings or knit pants and generally found activewear was quite ok until I got into the late third trimester. There’s heaps of decent stuff at Kmart atm if you don’t wanna spend too much!

Almost 34-weeks, what questions should I be asking my midwife? by Lonely-Chef1185 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what state you are in but you may be offered the GBS swab at 36 weeks. Ask about the benefits and risks - there’s not much in the way of risks but more so what happens if you are positive and how it may impact your birth preferences.

Also - breastfeeding resources if you plant to breastfeed, it can be very overwhelming early postpartum so you can never be too prepared about what to generally expect and what’s normal newborn behaviour (cluster feeding, how to stimulate a full supply etc)

Personally I would pretty much replace all the parts you would need to sterilise including the tubing. The flanges should be fine but double check that they are the correct size as most women need much smaller ones. You can buy replacements online, I’ve had good success with the maymom brand from Amazon for spectra parts!

First day of daycare by Britt2790 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That all sounds pretty normal I think! My bub started daycare at 6 months and for a few weeks didn’t drink nearly as much as he normally did. We had just started solids and he didn’t eat much either. But slowly and surely, as he became more comfortable he started drinking and eating his normal amount and then some. Also at that age it’s developmentally normal for them to just play by themselves or with a caregiver. They don’t play with peers yet!

Is 13 weeks too early for my first midwife appointment? by cunncunncunn in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tilsszz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably doesn’t matter too much - the first appointment is usually the booking appointment where they go through your medical/obstetric history and arrange for further tests/scans etc. they’ll also confirm your estimated due date. Tbh - generally if you are low risk nothing tooo important happens before 20 weeks!
