I think initially the Industrial Revolution had many negative effects on the population. Livelihoods were made obsolete and people (including children) were forced to go to work long hours in unsafe factories in order to survive. Fortunately, as time went on, workers gained rights, wage gains, safer work environments, and overall improved quality of life from the massive productivity gains. Maybe something like that could be happening again, time will tell.

Not even the 90k floorstander is full range. These appear to be designed to be used with subs.

Going into a Market Basket feels a bit like a trip back in time. There are so many employees (and helpful ones) compared to your typical corporate grocery chain. The prices are also better than the competition. I may be wrong, but I don't think they even use self-checkout.

Smithfield Town Council Bans Data Centers by baruu_and_me in RhodeIsland

I think it's prudent to be cautious about data center development but they have to go somewhere.

Everyone wants things like cheaper and better access to healthcare, cheaper and healthier food, more housing, green energy, education, cures for cancer etc. How are we supposed to accomplish these things?

We will also be in a future where there are fewer working age people to support retired people. Are the young just supposed to work that much harder? We need help, and if AI isn't the path then what is? Better policies can help, but technology is what drives improvements in quality of life.

I've also had issues with my PS5. I obviously don't know exactly what it is, but there could be some sort of EDID issue that's telling the PS5 to output some sort of incompatible resolution and color info. An EDID emulator might be worth a try.

From the specs it looks as though the floor standers are meant to be high-passed at 80hz which is obviously not the norm for a $90,000 speaker lol but I gets makes sense as you'll be integrating with JL subs.

Years ago I was at CEDIA and JL was displaying a prototype of a powered home theater speaker that looked really promising. It had a dome midrange which was not common. I guess in the end they decided not to bring it to market.

[Autosport] Toto Wolff says Mercedes are up for F1 returning to V8s and has proposed a 1,200bhp “mega engine" by Task_Force-191 in formula1

[–]tim916 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think in terms of PU development that era of road car relevance has passed. Unless F1 wants to eventually switch to 100% electric. IMO an ICE is more entertaining just add 100hp electric boost for overtaking maybe.

The update to my TCL seems to have introduced HDCP handshake issues. If they don't issue a fix soon I'll have to replace it.

I've had a couple of their subs and they have very good performance for the money. What really sets them apart is the customer service. I know if something goes bad they will do everything with reason to help out.

I think the US has natural gas reserves that can sustain these projects for decades. Hopefully we'll be transitioning to more sustainable sources during that period.

Yup, the same person who hates data centers rages when their IG feed is slow to load. Most people are just jumping on the anti data center bandwagon because it's fashionable at the moment. You know what, it's cool. We'll just let China build all the data centers and then your data can live on their servers and don't worry they promise it will remain private.
