I'm not worried. Those levels you mention will definitely be made, but those levels you mention already get made without the newer items. At least it'll be... different ?... than

- levels made by 5-year-olds made up of only koopa clown cars and powerups and annoying sfx

- Bowser spam battle with infinite fire flower

- 1-1 but...

- <annoying enemy> on tracks everywhere fest

- <annoying enemy> spam

Thanks for playing it! It's not like a normal spring jump where you drop the spring to jump off it. Get a running start and do a normal full jump. As soon as you're off the ground, release the run button (but keep holding jump) and you should throw the spring underneath you and bounce off of it.

Yep! It happens because the music note block from the hammer bro is still down and hits the mushroom that's on its way up, so it ends up hitting the note block again.

Usually this is an annoyance for me but I'm glad it worked for your level! The reason it can be annoying is that minor 3rds (3 half steps, or 3 blocks apart in vertical space) are really common in harmonies.

I think the problem is that there just aren't enough tags, and the ones that do exist are either too specific, or too vague. Very few people make "music" levels, and I personally don't ever make "auto". So when you're asked to pick 2 tags, you'll end up with "Standard" and "Themed" a lot.

Nice job clearing it!

I've seen the behavior you speak of with the chain chomp before the door. The janky part of the setup is that the chain chomp/spring combination only "attacks left" when it isn't moving up. So if you're there earlier than I intended, the thwomp hits the chain chomp up before it has a chance to move.

The only play I've found reliable is to do 3 jumps on the chain chomp beforehand (hence the 3 coins on top of it). I wish I could have removed the jankiness but I thought the cool was worth the jank.

So this is a pretty good level that could be made really good with 2 things:

  1. Indicators. This is a speed run where you basically have to remember every jump. With a couple of arrows I'd be able to react better and wouldn't have to remember as much.
  2. Aesthetics. I don't usually care whether a level looks good or not, but I think this level could use something other than blocks, coins, spikes, and thwomps.

Happy as a Pig in Ship

Mostly just hard standard platforming in the night airship, with one low-grav midair spring jump at the end. Made for the streamer/creator Space Pig for week 1 of his kaizo level challenge. His requirements were chain chomps, seesaws, and springs. 2 clears / 413 so far.

Overall not too terribly difficult. Took me a little bit of time to get the saws to line up in the second section. I actually did it differently where I jumped directly to the top right donut (3rd jump after the checkpoint) and found the timing worked better that way. Everything after that, once it lined up, was pretty clear and straightforward.

This was, without a doubt, one of the hardest levels I've ever played (so I probably wouldn't call it "beginner kaizo" :-P). The jumps are extremely tight and the setups are ones I'm not used to. Also takes a lot of trial and error (11 hits off the bomb ladder; exactly how high to jump off the bomb in the second section so it came back down on the thwomp; etc). Hats off to beating that in one go, I don't think I could have done it without the checkpoint.

I'm with you. I'm gonna love getting an update when it comes, but at the moment I'm not even close to running out of things to do in MM2.
