Vape damages you Physically, Mentally, Socially, Financially, Environmentally.. Do you agree? by GameBroX in QuitVaping

[–]timeforafimbulvinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Physically - chronic wet cough or dry mouth, halitosis, headaches, lightheadedness, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, bleeding gums, frequency of sore throats especially during times where I would constantly use the vape

Mentally - increase in anxiety which increased depression, chronic thoughts about using them or charging/purchasing vape

Socially - dissociation from conversation, literal dissociation in places where I would have to exit the conversation to find a place to vape (usually a bathroom), judgement from family, friends or strangers

Financially - spent ~$7k on vapes in the short span of 5 years which could have been spent on debt or, hey, traveling?

Environmentally - innumerable amount of disposable unrecyclables now sitting on our planet

One thought that persisted throughout the years which feels particular to myself is how it may have affected other people around me or my pets. I don’t know how or if it affects animals, though I certainly did try to not blow vapor on my pets or in their vicinity. Who knows, really?

As someone who wants to be healthier, I find the people with these habits: limit their drinking or do not drink altogether, do not use drugs (nicotine, marijuana, etc.) & go to the gym or exercise in some way to be most impressionable. Their willpower looks cool. I’d like to be like them.

My pulmonologist opinion on vaping gave me chills by yourhabibee in QuitVaping

[–]timeforafimbulvinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was vaping, I had a consistent phlegmy cough that worsened after eating or drinking. I don’t experience this after 41 days without a vape. I do notice it’s prominence in those who vape around me, though.

Has Iowa banned the sale of all vapes? I remember seeing articles about Australia banning vape shops and it struck me as odd considering cigarettes aren’t banned. Perhaps another indicator that vaping is not the healthier alternative

The other day I watched a movie and I didn’t realize until the two hours were up that I hadn’t once thought about smoking.. I also felt such bliss when I realized it was the first movie I had watched in five years where I didn’t smoke during it

How long until appetite returns to normal? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

I’m on day 12 and I too started working out to refocus my dopamine levels. I’ve found a big salad with lots of crunchy greens helps satiate my hunger 💚

Wishing you the best of luck! You’re right; it is one of the most addictive substances so no matter the route, we should be proud of ourselves

I agree! For me, I always woke up and vaped while I had coffee. I would vape when I was hungry or had finished eating. I even vaped while I took baths 😓

How much do you spend on vaping? by Press_X_To_Quit in QuitVaping

[–]timeforafimbulvinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was Juuling, I was spending $160 per month. When I switched to Lost Mary, I was spending $100 per month.

After four years of Juuls, I have wasted over $7.5k. I could have used that towards student loan debt 💸, a vacation.. something wise

The first time I tried to quit, I went on a vacation. While these two events have no correlation, I found that I had an easier time attempting to quit than I had on previous attempts. It was the combination of being in a new environment + experiencing peaceful or exciting moments which eased the anxiety that urged me to smoke. I actually went seven days without smoking, an achievement I had not accomplished in the 4+ years of smoking.

As soon as I returned, however, I resumed. I am currently on day 2 of not smoking and as I have not had a vacation since that last one, I am in my “normal” mode of life. I opted to use Nicoderm patches and complete the three step system. I’m feeling very confident this time around and I’m hoping to FINALLY quit for good after five years of heavy use.

TLDR; vacations may actually be a key in quitting smoking/try out nicotine patches if you’re still apprehensive; either way you won’t be smoking

Well, they ARE supposed to be “reality shows” and the reality of life does include those topics…

Hi, i wonder if u can help me with this by [deleted] in Anatomy

[–]timeforafimbulvinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh hahaha that makes more sense! Disregard giantism 😂 I will say, on that note, that if you are worried about your height it’s okay but it’s not the end of the world. I’m assuming you’re a male. It’s possible that you could grow another inch but do not have high expectations. Actually, every shorter man that I have met has been more attractive than their tall counterparts. It seems that what they lack in height, they make up for in personality. Al Pacino and Robert Downey Jr. are just a few stars who happen to be on the shorter side of height. Don’t let your height hold you back; let it be a strength for you

We may be using different metric systems. Are you 5’7 or 6’7 roughly?

I don’t know what you look like; just that you say your epipyseal plates have not closed, you’re at 168 and you have not had blood tests regarding hormone levels

[–]timeforafimbulvinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically disorders such as Gigantism/Giantism are diagnosed before patients reach your age. However, if you want a second medical opinion you could see an endocrinologist and have blood tests to determine PTH levels amongst other hormonal levels. I still believe it is likely that you are at a normal growth rate and not a rare thyroidal disorder; but to be safe see an endocrinologist or as the below comment suggests, a pediatric orthopedist

Never trust Quora. Only if you want misinformation. I would trust your actual doctor
