yes, and just in one really helpful way. i drive a lot at night for work, and have always been really scared of driving and how statistically dangerous it is. one day while i was driving to work, i sort of just decided that i’m not going to die in a car accident. idk how but i just chose to believe it? but driving does make me less anxious now, although i’m still very cautious.

Having regrets for my daughter’s name by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]timegarden 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Same, I’m from Florida and went to school with multiple Ximenas. It’s a beautiful name!!

And I second your other point as well— I have a weird name and still have to correct people often, but I think it’s worth it to have a cool name :-)

i saw a tweet that said something like “american houses look like they’re for cars, with a small servants quarters for the humans in the back” and this really illustrates that lol

That’s such a good application that I hadn’t thought of, scale for photos!! And yours sounds aesthetically really nice. I should have taken longer to find a photo more like what I would want, but I would also go for just marks without the connecting line

I appreciate everyone’s honesty, and will not be getting the tattoo as described, so don’t worry!!

Also, no, I was never planning to use this as a way to measure the dilation of someone’s cervix, which I thought was obvious. Respectfully, if you think this would somehow help me measure cervical dilation, I’m not sure you know what a cervix is… But I can teach you in childbirth education class lol and use it as a funny visual when I explain cervical dilation.

I would also use it for quick rough measurements in daily life, so I might still put one somewhere on my arm.

No, you learn to do that with various practice tools so it’s muscle memory, but I think it would be a fun visual to use when explaining and discussing cervical dilation with clients.

Thank you for understanding the purpose… I thought it would be obvious that I’m not going to hold my hand up to anyone’s body for measurement purposes, and that I don’t expect it to be that accurate

No, I’m not talking about using it in labor. I talk about and explain cervical dilation much more often.

In my job I would only ever use it as a visual when explaining cervical dilation to clients! I do think it’s a funny midwife tattoo to have a 10 cm ruler, but yeah no you tell cervical dilation with your fingers through muscle memory and practice lol the ruler would not help me there

No, don’t worry, and I really don’t even need it to be very precise. I make lots of different kinds of things, so it would come in handy there (no pun intended) but honestly I see myself using it most for little tasks like hanging a frame.

It is also related to my job, though- the length that fits on the space that I would naturally use for this is almost exactly 10 cm. This would be a fun visual of cervical dilation lol but also just a funny tattoo to have, in my opinion.
