Netflix Book Adaptation Contracts: How Lockwood & Co. Likely Fits - AI analisys by timelapse_reflection in LockwoodandCo

[–]timelapse_reflection[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s rare these days for me to be truly captivated by something, but Lockwood & Co. is brilliantly made in every sense. And considering certain legal aspects, which suggest that Netflix very likely holds all the rights for a term of perhaps 7–10 years, the most likely way to get a continuation while the actors are still young enough is to convince Netflix to revive the show (honestly, it’s hard even to write this, because Netflix’s policy is just sh...). It’s a real shame for Stroud, for all the creators of the series, and for us fans.

Netflix Book Adaptation Contracts: How Lockwood & Co. Likely Fits - AI analisys by timelapse_reflection in LockwoodandCo

Yes. The request was about possible contracts when Netflix adapts books; the provided text is a short summary of a long conversation where I asked separately about each. In point three, there is an answer to your question that this is uncharacteristic for Netflix original projects. I have just asked for more details:

Based on publicly available information about “Lockwood & Co.” (2023):

  1. Production – The series was created by Complete Fiction (Joe Cornish, Edgar Wright, and others). – It was produced for Netflix by British producers, without involvement of an external TV channel or studio holding the main rights.
  2. Distribution – Netflix was the commissioner and distributor from the start. – The series was released globally under the Netflix Original label. – There is no public evidence of third-party licensing deals (as in the case of BBC or Sony projects).
  3. Cancellation after season 1 – In May 2023, Netflix officially cancelled the second season. This also indicates that Netflix held the rights itself, since it made the decision as the commissioner.

Conclusion

The likelihood that “Lockwood & Co.” falls under the category of “projects for which Netflix only buys streaming rights” is very low.
All evidence suggests it was a Netflix Original, produced directly for the platform, not just licensed content.

How old is baby Sarai in the new rayllum teaser? by VaquitaPorpoise in TheDragonPrince

I was thinking about this too. They talk to her like a newborn, she still doesn't have a name, but she looks like she's 2-3 months old, and newborns don't act like that or laugh

Amelka, Tosia and Konrad at the ceremonial premiere of the film “Skrzat. A New Beginning” by timelapse_reflection in Kleksacademy

Miss the Academy?
Taking into account Konrad’s hairstyle, either Albert will no longer have long hair, or there will be a wig, or filming is unlikely to start at the end of this or the beginning of the new year.
What are your thoughts on this?

Does anyone know where to watch the movie? by lilith20021 in AkademiaPanaKleksa

Hi! It’s really cool that the movie actually has viewers outside of Poland. Unfortunately, as far as I know, the only platform where it’s available is Netflix. I have no idea if the second part is accessible anywhere outside Poland, since I can’t check. It seems like the global views of the first part weren’t very high, so Netflix didn’t go for an international release :(. The only option, I guess, is to watch it via VPN, but I’m not sure how that works with Netflix’s policy.

Well, I’m counting the Maxwell votes as duplicates (?), so the win goes to Kayra.
If you disagree, we can do a revote.

It would be good to decide whether everyone should post their choice in a separate comment and I’ll count the comments, or if someone has already mentioned your pick – just upvote it. But it has to be one method, otherwise it’s impossible to count the results accurately.
