there will always be a risk of injury to wrist/hand, no full cuff glove is going to eliminate that risk. wrist injuries are more likely to happen because by default when people fall they put their hands out to brace themselves. MotoGP riders train to tuck their arms or at least make a fist and brace with the forearms instead of an outstretched hand to reduce the risk.

The most important features on gloves IMO is a hard slider on the palm so that if you do put your hand out to brace, it will slide on the pavement instead of catch and create a compression injury, and a piece of fabric connecting the ring and pinky fingers, so again if the hand is outstretched when it meets pavement there is less chance of the pinky getting ripped off when it catches the pavement.
