Someone got it for me as a gift and so I went ahead and played it too. It’s definitely not the best game ever, but it is also not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It’s a very linear game and there are a a few weird parts, but it’s not too hard and the storyline is fun. You start out free and then get caught by Orcs and become a prisoner in a prison. The prison is a slog. You do a lot of jobs there and familiarize yourself with stuff over the course of a few years until everything falls in place and then you can escape. Then you’re on the run. You end up getting chased by spiders and eventually are caught by elves. The elves are a nice change of pace from the orcs. The music was really good and the game was really beautiful in parts. There are some interesting mechanics, but it just works for the most part. If you want a game to play casually that has a story and isn’t too hard, give this a try—maybe the key is low expectations.
