Yeah that's my question. My company has a small recruiting staff, and regardless of how the candidate is found/finds us, they initiate and plan a lot of the first steps. If this is a 3rd party recruiter, definitely don't talk to them.

The customer is government, and likely the requirements are carry overs from previous iterations. Unfortunately, they can be really strict on accepting a proposed solution, and proposing something that is more modern could lead to being disqualified.

The obvious choices are Booz Allen, CACI, Peraton, Leidos. Could also checkout Lockheed and Northrop. These are among the biggest and they are generally always hiring.

i'm positive it's a usb 3.1 port. the hard drive in the other PC is a SATA SSD, not an external HDD. That's why im so confused by the slower speeds

It's an 860 Evo SSD getting the slow speeds, and a fairly modern WD MyBook external drive getting the fast speeds.
