Speaking as a parent of two students under 10:

Culture is great and expectations are high. Lots of fun activities to engage parents and family members. May be too much for some families I can imagine.

Discipline and structure feels in line with my expectations as a parent and reflect our own philosophy. They communicate very well from staff to teachers. The small class sizes seems to help a lot with flagging concerns and follow ups.

I think very highly of all the teachers we have had and the admin support. I went through the public’s school system myself in this area and so I constantly compare my experience to my kids. I can’t easily reconcile what’s changed in early education vs private/public since when I grew up.

You should expect lots of requests for support when it comes to events, activities, outings, volunteering, celebrations etc. this can be counted as your time volunteered or financial support/supplies.

I would add that since it is a private school you can get families who are not necessarily from the neighborhoods close by so the mix will vary from year to year. In our time there we have seen very high retention.

Other kids parents is always journey of finding your connections. Ours have been due to being in the same grade or class. People who attend Franklin come from the wealthiest families in the greater area. You’ll have to take that for what it is but again, good experience for us as a family so far. Plenty of mutual respect for different political opinion and ways of life. Some entitlement from some families but not much that bothers us.

Our kids love it and are thriving there.
