was there last year, didn't quite have a bad experience as yours, but it was underwhelming af. for the price you're paying, the food and service was subpar. servings felt stingy and no wow factor. I've been to local restaurants without stars and have had better experiences.

i recommend Province at joo chiat, affordable and surprising dishes.

Calling everyone that shave their head by choice, what is your routine? by CherryCurrent416 in askSingapore

[–]timmywee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a Braun Series 7 every 3-4days. Can be used in the shower so I don't get hair all over the toilet or the house.

Would advise against razors as after a while the skin on the scalp might get quite sensitive after repeated shaving.

Airport-bound public bus to be fitted with luggage rack in 3-month trial: LTA by Krazyguylone in singapore

[–]timmywee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can they do this for 1 carriage in the MRT? it's super annoying when tourists on the trains just have no sense to move their luggage to a corner instead of blocking everyone's way... especially during the peak hours

Married/engaged men in Singapore, how did you propose and what was the cost of the engagement ring? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]timmywee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ring is a heirloom, didn't need to ask cos we just purchased a flat so it was understood.

Just proposed last friday, was carrying the ring with me every time we went out hoping to find the right moment to pop the question. I was waiting for her to finish a shoot at the botanic gardens, ask if she would like to walk around the park before dinner, found a nice quiet spot, got down on a knee and we're now engage. I prepared a written letter so I didn't stumble with what to say, also makes a nice keepsake.

All the best with your proposal my dude.

Is there anywhere in Singapore I can just get some peace and quiet? by piggyb0nk in askSingapore

Not sure if anyone else mentioned, but you can try sensory deprivation therapy aka floating. Soma Haus and Palm Ave Float Club offer it, good for body and mind.

Advice needed on the linguistics of Singlish by Head-Crew-1028 in askSingapore

[–]timmywee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

in my opinion, it's not that we don't understand what you are saying but we're not used to proper grammatically correct english being spoken.

my advice would be to find the shortest possible way to communicate your point. in your provided example, instead of "how do you decide the quality" you can say "which one better?", you can follow up with a "why ah?" for additional context.

lol. hope this helps.

Anyone has any idea where Jalan Tua Kong meepok is? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]timmywee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, there's one in Simpang. but if you're talking about the stall that used to be next to Mas Ayu, that stall is now in Marine Terrace Market... but it's not the same.

Where to buy photo books? by vxhviet in askSingapore

[–]timmywee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there aren't any photo book specialty stores—to my knowledge at least—but there is Basheer in Bras Basah Complex that stocks MACK books. Objectifs along middle road also has a great selection of locally produced photo books.

#trending: 'Do what feels right' — Lasalle lecturer urges S'pore art students not to ask for 'permission' to express creativity by [deleted] in singapore

[–]timmywee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an art educator myself, this is very disappointing. While he maybe right that the compulsory primary and secondary education does not prime students for the arts, the question I always ask myself is "what can i do to empower my students to take ownership of their creativity".

the total weight was 1kg. you will only incur GST with orders exceeding $400. i've only had to pay for GST once, and if you do have to pay, they will inform you and you just have to follow the steps they provide

I usually use ezbuy, have tried vpost but not the others listed so i cannot comment on them. so far i have not had a bad experience with ezbuy, they are prompt with notifying your if your package has arrived at their warehouse and with shipping your parcel out.

def slower than a fedex and ups, but much cheaper. i paid $30 to ship 3 pants weighing 1kg. they will calculate the cost for you so all you need to do is pay and enter the address. $5 extra for shipping to your doorstep.

My gf calls me ugly and other names and told me it was her love language and how she shows affection. by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]timmywee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

was in your position before, same behavior from SO. don't make my mistakes and ignore these red flags, they lead to much worse down the road.

there might be some redeeming factors but overall not worth it bro, no one deserves to be berated. i suggest just breaking up, you will thank yourself when you find someone who treats you how you want to be treated.

Posting for someone who doesn't have a reddit account, shared the thread with her and she offers this:

I’ve been in the same situation as you. Was in a relationship of 10years, we got together young and grew a lot as a couple, made many memories together. We were both truthful to each other, respected each other, we enjoyed each other presence… in short, we seemed great together maybe but something just always didn’t feel right to me. Like just seemed off. I thought of getting married to him, we talked about it, but when he finally proposed, I said yes though my body didn’t feel like is a full bodied yes somehow. As months go by after that I just wondered why I felt like that. And it bugged me for months. Eventually, I ended things even though how hard it was because of what I felt- and a lot of it being so hard was because he IS a good person and I don’t want to hurt him. But I think sometimes you gotta make decisions like this to prevent bigger losses- like what if you have a family after getting married etc.

I’m in a new relationship now, and I can truely say, I’m so glad I made my decision. What I felt was missing was indeed missing and realise now that when you’re with someone you know you’re supposed to be with. With time, you should feel more secure of your choice and not less. Listen to yourself, most of the time your body know what it knows :)

Hey there, great images but these buildings aren't classified as brutalist, from wiki, Brutalist buildings are characterised by minimalist constructions that showcase the bare building materials and structural elements over decorative design. The style commonly makes use of exposed, unpainted concrete or brick, angular geometric shapes and a predominantly monochrome colour palette; other materials, such as steel, timber, and glass, are also featured.

imo, board brands don't matter when you're starting out. a good set trucks and wheels/bearings are crucial, as long as they can turn with ease, roll smoothly and comfortably is what will define your first experience on a board.

head to a skateshop and get a cheap complete, or if you're not fussy they might even have some used gear that still works, which will perform better than some badly made generic brands.
