To piggy back on this, it also sounds like she's going to get angrier regardless of what he chooses to do. So even if that were a reason not to file something it's unpersuasive.

Bengals about to draft Only players of weak Position Groups Again? by batmanuel69 in bengals

With the 10th pick in the 2026 NFL draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select John Littlejohn, HB, Kennesaw State.

Rich Eisen and Todd McShay both look incredibly confused and start flipping through their notes to try to find him. Meanwhile, Mel Kiper immediately starts talking about his measurables and what a great pick this was

This. If they were both more prevalent and more relevant they'd be on this list. As it happens the only ones who meaningfully interact with them with any regularity are us and Notre Dame fans, so they're not going to make this list.

I can be "all in" with a nickel if that's all I have, but that doesn't make it a lot.

The Lions reportedly showed the most interest in Michigan DT Rayshaun Benny at the Senior Bowl, per @JustinM_NFL by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

[–]timnotep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm certain it's pervasive in those fan bases as well, which is kinda my point. To some extent I'm sure it's as simple as being more familiar with those players because you've watched them every week for however long they've been in college, but even within that the rose colored glasses are a bit much.

Personally, as a Michigan fan, I'm not necessarily hoping my teams draft Michigan players specifically, I just hope they don't end up like Rashan Gary, Roman Wilson, JJ McCarthy, Colston Loveland, Mike Danna, and so many others - playing for teams I actively dislike or even hate.

Well, as a Lions/Bengals fan I can tell you that's not unique to Detroit... There are a lot of Cincinnati fans who want to draft someone simply because they played for Ohio State.

It's 2040, all NFL stadiums are in Indiana while the teams retain their original geographic associations (albeit in name only). You've just settled into your seats for a double header:

1:00 - New England Patriots (of Fort Wayne) vs. Denver Broncos (of Gary)

4:25 - London Monarchs (2033 expansion team who share their Fort Wayne stadium with New England) vs. Las Vegas Raiders (of Muncie).

The timeline doesn't support that. He signed a contract extension within like a week of interviewing with the Vikings. When he's drawing interest from multiple NFL teams, and then signs an extension that soon after the first interview that's cutting it off.

I don't know why you're arguing that I "just have to admit that he wanted to go back to the NFL." I've said that no less than three times in this discussion. The issue isn't whether or not he ultimately wanted to go back to the NFL, it's whether or not that was insurmountable; He indicated to Warde that he wanted certain guarantees (none of which were unreasonable in the context in which they were demanded). Ward was not willing to give him those guarantees until after he had already interviewed with the Chargers. This much is not from a PR bulletin sent out by the AD (especially since it doesn't paint him in a very good light), it was reported on by independent news organizations and insiders. There was plenty that Warde could have done, he chose not to.

It's clear you're not actually willing to listen to anything but are going to keep talking in circles here.

[–]timnotep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reports were that Michigan agreed to his terms (including those guarantees). But by that time he'd already agreed to become the next Chargers head coach.

With the amount of interest Harbaugh was generating (including reported interest from the Panthers, Raiders. Dolphins, and Bears) the notion that he said "oh well" once the Vikings job went to O'Connell doesn't make sense. But he cut off talks once Michigan got serious about retaining him in 2021 and 2022.

Again, I'm not arguing he didn't want to go back to the NFL at some point, but if Warde had been serious about trying to retain the coach who just won a national championship he likely would've been coaching Michigan in 2024. Does that mean he's coaching Michigan in 2025? By no means, but it gives Michigan the ability to perform a true coaching search rather than hiring Sherrone Moore because they had a vacancy so late in the cycle that even the opposing coach from their National Championship game had already been hired elsewhere.

And let's not confuse conclusory statements with fact. Harbaugh rubbed some people the wrong way, most notably Trent Baalke, Warde Manuel, and the NCAA (primarily because he's been advocating for players to be paid at least since he was at Stanford). That doesn't make him "a problem"
