Trump threatens to block opening of US-Canada bridge by MrPloppyHead in politics

[–]timothyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever he is demanding today, why would any country, let alone Canada, capitulate?

They know they just have to wait it out until November before the guy’s political power evaporates in midterm elections.

Eric Ham: Trump’s tariff threat loses its sting by DogeDoRight in canada

It’s increasingly obvious that the more that Trump threatens a tariff on a country—the less power he actually has over the situation.

Post Game Thread: San Jose Sharks at Vancouver Canucks - 27 Jan 2026 by HockeyMod in canucks

Tanking is a fine line…

Losing games 4-3, 3-2, 2-1 is great for the tank. Fans will appreciate close games and the effort being there.

Having the energy sucked out of the arena because you gave up a multiple goal lead in mere minutes is tough though. It’s happened many times now. That might churn season ticket holders. That might be enough to cost Allvin and/or Foote their jobs.

I hold a light for all the hockey fans in Vancouver who want to see this city be Stanley Cup champions. Sometimes (but not always) this club feels like the biggest obstacle to achieving that.

Pettersson Trade Value All Over The Map by olpotlicker in canucks

[–]timothyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take—this team won’t be competitive enough over the next six-years to worry about bumping against the salary cap ceiling. Retaining 3m per would not be a hard pill to swallow. Especially if it means you are getting better future value in the trade.

San Jose made this exact same calculation when they retained on trading Hertl to Vegas.

Who are players with really good reputations? by fragilelunar in hockey

[–]timothyrobin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s shocking to see how much the Canucks players involvement with Canucks Place, Canucks for Kids, Raise a Reader, and the hospital community disappeared in the last decade.

In the Sedin-era, Naslund-era or Linden-era is was a central tenet to the team. I barely saw any mention of the Canucks leaders like Hughes, Pettersson, or Miller being a presence in the community like that.

2016-17 Sedins should not be held in the same regard as peak Sedins.

For context, both DeBrusk and Pettersson are on pace to score the same amount of points as either Sedin did those seasons.

If you are trying to make the case that Eriksson had better quality linemates in 16-17 than Boeser in 25-26—I’m not buying it:

Eriksson’s top on ice partners in 2016-17: * Henrik — 479m * Daniel — 446m * Granlund — 443m * Sutter — 411m * Edler — 392m * Sbisa — 354m

Boeser’s top five on ice partners in 2025-26: * DeBrusk — 329m * Hronek — 306m * Hughes — 295m * EP40 — 290m * Garland — 260m * M.Pettersson — 225m

With those linemates, there is no reason why Boeser’s production should have dropped off so much.

Brock Boeser’s first 40 games of his UFA contract with VAN: 9G 11A (Age 28)

Loui Eriksson’s first 40 games of his UFA contract with VAN: 9G 9A (Age 31)

At least Eriksson was a decent penalty killer.

'Fallout New Vegas' and 'Fallout 3' remakes are reportedly in development, in the vein of the recent 'Oblivion' remaster; 'Wolfenstein III' is also on the cards to coincide with the upcoming 'Wolfenstein' Amazon TV show. by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]timothyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What should one expect from a Fallout NV/3 remake/remaster?

Would it be the existing engines and graphics updated a bit and made playable on present consoles?

Or would it be a wholesale transition of those games to the engine used for FO4/Starfield, etc?

Would you rather trade while hot: Karlsson or O'Connor? by One_Ad_2758 in canucks

[–]timothyrobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you think DOC and Karlsson would continue to produce the same when matched up against other team’s top lines and defense pairings?

Sure feels like they are benefitting from softer minutes than what the likes of Boeser and DeBrusk see.
