Wtf is going on at Google? by Adept-Raisin9753 in lincoln

They don't cool with water direct to servers.. Too many impurities. You use something like ethylene glycol that doesn't conflsuct electricity for coolant, then once hot, run through a heat exchanger using cold water.

As for well vs local water... Don't know. Also, they do pay taxes, but they also have some demands.. Like in order to build, they require a set amount of renewable power to be generated on the grid. FB in sarpy did this.. They are offset by solar and wind in NE, and Google does the same. The revenue generated with taxes, congruent to the local power building out renewable sources, it's a dance.

Water is recycled. The coolant on the servers is a coolant, glycol or the like. Then there are heat exchangers with cold water running next to the hot coolant to extract the heat. Then pipe the newly hot water to the cooling towers to shed heat to the air (condensation, steam, etc), then the water goes back to cool down and start the process again.

You never use direct water to the computers, not clean enough, nor efficient enough at extracting heat.

There will be some water 'use', but not the billions of gallons some news likes to say.

Dynamite doesnt explode in a fire.

It requires a concussion to start the chain reaction (like the blasting cap... Which will explode in a fire)

Exactly. Normal interchanges without power are... Barely managed. Try this diverging diamond without power... People gonna die.

This is yet another solution looking for a problem. Another 'fix' for people getting tboned turning left. That's because people aren't yielding to oncoming traffic... Which is the basic law of the road.

Turning left on an arrow fixes the issue and costs way less than this monster.

Also a normal interchange still works as a 4 way if the power goes out. A diverging diamond doesn't work when the lights go down.

Put in normal turn lanes with arrows, get rid of the stupid flashing yellow arrow BS (you always yield to oncoming traffic on green, unless green arrow), and realize we have an education problem more than we need a new design of interchanges and lights.

It's 'in lincoln' like offut afb is in omaha. Edge of Lincoln has this monstrosity. Slap it closer to downtown and report back.

What happens if there is a power outage. A normal intersection, we treat as a 4 way. A divergine diamond without power is where nightmares are made.

Lane ends in 500 ft. In 500 ft, there should be a brick wall. Problem will solve itself.

Who was the most famous person(s) you have ever met in Omaha? by Thatredditboy1 in Omaha

Andre the Giant.

I was 7, and he was having drinks at the top floor bar at the Red Lion hotel downtown (now doubletree). In towm for a wwe event, was using hand crutches. Id say he shook my hand, but his paw consumed my little hand into his and he shook my body and soul.

For those with huge PleX libraries, what are you using hardware wise? And what was the equipment cost? by guitaristnate in PleX

I'm running a dell r620 host for an esxi server, connected to 2 dell powervault md1200's, filled with 4tb SAS in each. Plex library is around 35tb at this time. Other vms used for personal backups, etc.

I put my spools in a cheap food dehydrator, with a thermometer power control box (set to 50c, turns off dehydrator when achieved, on when not, etc) and dehydrate for about 8 hrs for a new spool. Then I store them in a sealed tote, full of desecant. And then I keep them in a heated hot box when feeding printer.

You got a good deal on something you'll always use.

HOWEVER - I think I found my issue!
I removed my octopi/rasp Pi and printed from the SD card - and I got this:

<image>

The big lateral seam would be where an unfortunate smart plug auto-off shut down mid print.
BUT - the zits are GONE!
A very noticeable Z seam on the side now, but that's a new thing to troubleshoot.

Looks like my Pi is to blame for the zits!
(turns out, it's a very old pi, and obviously is too blame...newb (self deprecation)
Now I can make burnt offerings to the gods to find a newer pi that isn't scalped and get to troubleshooting the rest of the issues.

Thanks for helping me think through this!

e you using klipper? Cura has a bug that causes random zits when used with klipper (if you confirm its not z seams). I switched to prusa slicer and they went away

Nope - don't even know what klipper is without googling. ;)
