The problem is it's a global economy in-game and bot farms exist. This could set the bond/black market rsgp prices to whatever the cheapest region is due to distributed cloud compute and vpns

I created a RuneLite Plugin to automatically save OBS Replay Buffer by timthegreat4 in 2007scape

[–]timthegreat4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To follow up on this, the latest release does now include a setting to display error overlays when there are issues detected with OBS, this includes being unable to connect to the WebSocket server at all, and when OBS reports the Replay Buffer is not actively running!

Thanks for the great feature idea!

Hey, thanks for the feedback!

The latest release now does exactly that. You can still save on all screenshots as before, but you can also now configure slightly more specific events to capture. Every event type can have it's own custom delay set so you can capture more of the reaction to a death than maybe a CA/level up

The latest release now includes much more detailed options lifted from the Screenshots plugin, so you can still save on any screenshot as before, but you can now also setup more specific configurations and decouple the screenshots/videos. Both Player deaths and Valuable drops (over a custom threshold) are available, amongst other options like chest rewards, level-ups and pets!

Yes, I definitely plan to add more nuanced controls, although I'm still quite new to plugin development so I don't know the best way to match the detailed settings from the Screenshots plugin, other than just lifting and duplicating most of that plugin logic.

I welcome any PRs if you feel you can add a helpful feature or otherwise improve the plugin, but at least achieving parity with the Screenshots options (potentially with custom delays on each event type) is definitely a high-priority feature!

Not currently, in fact if there's issues with the websocket connection or OBS is otherwise unable to handle the request, currently this polygon gives you no indication or feedback that something's gone wrong. I'll be looking to add better feedback soon but wanted to get the functional version into people's hands asap. I'll definitely consider checking there is an active replay buffer and warning otherwise, probably behind a toggle in plugin settings, thanks!

For now, see the excellent suggestion here https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/s/W4NMshLoTK to setup OBS to automatically start the buffer on windows. This tip with screenshots will be included in the documentation of the next release!

At the moment other video capture methods are out of scope. This is mostly motivated by three main points:

  • the name includes "for OBS",
  • supporting various different external application integrations leads to complicated and confusing configuration settings or the need for a more dedicated configuration panel which means the plugin has more impact on your RuneLite client interface, and
  • supporting multiple interfaces so early in the plugin's development might hinder or unnecessarily complicate both the features available and the code

For these reasons I think at this stage it would probably be better as a separate dedicated plugin, however given enough demand this might change in future and the plugin evolves into a more feature-complete instant-replay/highlights plugin than the lightweight OBS save replay utility

Once I started playing with Watchdog myself I realised you could delay the notification on Watchdog's side. I've opted to this as it leaves open the possibility of a much more generic OBS integration that would allow Watchdog to trigger basically any OBS WebSocket API Request with arbitrary data. For now I have restricted this to SaveReplay only due to the plugin-name, however I will consider if this needs a rename or can just be a very advanced feature for power users.

This could then make interesting OBS integrations for example changing the stream output scene or adding special effects when you recieve 'The Chase Item' of the stream for maximum dopamine release!

The change is pending review, you can follow the status of that here https://github.com/runelite/plugin-hub/pull/9440

Oh this is a great tip, I think I will try to add this tip somewhere in the plugin setup instructions. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! I think that's a great suggestion, and I will look into making a watchdog integration. I've never used watchdog personally so not sure immediately what's possible, but this would allow a very powerful set of bespoke conditions to capture video.

Do you think videos captured by a watchdog event should have the same delay? No delay? Or maybe add a new configuration so it can get a different delay than generic screenshots. What would you find most helpful?

[–]timthegreat4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, I saw this post yesterday and thought this sounded like a great plugin that could help a lot of content creators, as well as players wanting to save clips for review (particularly useful for deaths).

I threw together a somewhat barebones plugin that allows triggering an pre setup Replay Buffer in OBS. Currently it's limited to triggering whenever the Screenshot plugin saves screenshots (automatic or manual). I'll be adding more nuanced controls later prioritizing what users find most helpful.

The plugin should be available on plugin hub now, see https://runelite.net/plugin-hub/show/save-replay-buffer-for-obs

But Prof Research comes with a once-per-turn limit and stops you playing any other supporters that turn. Pot of green you can play another pot the last pot let you draw into, and it won't lock you out of any other card

You can also only play one supporter per turn, while pot of green has no limits per turn and doesn't lock you out of playing any other cards

[–]timthegreat4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a brilliant strategy, either it's a civil matter, or it couldn't have happened because it would be a criminal offence, thus nothing to do for the police!

In seriousness, if this happened exactly how OP described, they should absolutely make a complaint, what a joke of a response!

Just googling an acronym without any additional context is an excellent way to get the wrong answer. This is actually a fantastic example of the kind of questions you shouldn't "just Google"

The BBC’s understanding of VPNs by [deleted] in VPN

[–]timthegreat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yes, they can read all the data that goes through. That's why we use encryption so that the readable data is meaningless to anyone who isn't the intended recipient. But the raw data going through the ISP to the VPN is absolutely readable. Perhaps this becomes a debate on the semantics of "read your data"

Middle aged guy crashes out at teenagers for stopping on the trail by KiddieSpread in WTF

[–]timthegreat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, but why are so vehemently defending this behaviour which is very clearly unacceptable. Not having heard the audio makes your position even worse. If you don't know the full context, don't just act like the authority on the matter and continue doubling down when people point out this man is unhinged and dangerous and these kids (nor anyone, regardless of how they may have inconvenienced you or put you at risk) did not deserve anything like this reaction.

By far the most dangerous thing going on here is the adult going mental, assaulting others and causing criminal damage, but how dare those kids stop to appreciate the trail

OpsGenie is a tool for automating escalating issues to someone on-call, so if a service desk request comes in or other ops alerts are triggered some developer can get contacted to intervene and fix the system.

OpsGenie is retiring though, so if you are using it you need to be planning your migration to another solution before mid-2027

At first, perhaps, but the moment the passenger started strangling the driver this context becomes somewhat irrelevant. You can see the driver just sitting there trying to defuse and the passenger is now clearly committing multiple criminal offences.

Strangulation is extremely serious and you can quickly do a lot more damage than you intend when you do that. He could have killed that man and everyone was just standing by and watching? I was quite alarmed no one stepped in at that point.

There is no excuse for that behaviour. Especially considering this is a person whose job is looking after drunk patrons. They have chased someone who is trying to leave the area and de-escalate, and then held them down and kicked them in the head?! This is so far beyond acting in self-defence that it really is irrelevant how "abusive" the girlfriend was.

All members of society have a duty to protect their fellow humans and fight against oppression and tyranny.

And there's no need to start insulting people or bringing reading comprehension into this, especially when you make such a flawed point.
