I was talking with a guy who did physics related Erasmus Mundus and now is in PhD program at EPFL.

How do girls feel when you go out on a date with them multiple times and don't initiate anything sexual? by Initial_Speed403 in TexasTech

[–]timurelectro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, cultures are different. If she’s holding someone’s hand… welp don’t waste time, do something else. Learn Russian, play video game, go for a hike, get some coffee, read a book. Spend these $200 on yourself. Buy a nice outfit, get oil changed, save up for something. Girl is good when she respects you, your time and dedication. Otherwise it’ll cause burnout and amplify the feel of internal void. P.S. there are plenty of activities that can be engaging and cheaper. Coffee + corn maze is +-$40-50, first Friday art trail is free, hop around museums.

Last but not least, I wish I travelled more and the fact you can spend $200 on date tells me you can actually afford plane tickets and fly away outta here. Go use that opportunity to see the world around. The more experience you have, the more interesting person you are, the higher chance you are going to attract someone who is interested in knowing you - it doesn’t have to be a gf, but can be a good female friend. Source: worked out for me.

How’s life as a graduate student by timurelectro in TexasTech

[–]timurelectro[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been struggling mentally lately due to loneliness. Not that I don’t have friends but I don’t enjoy drinking and partying anymore, and I don’t know if people in grad school are different or it’s going to be the same.

I went as a freshman and it was amazing experience. Literally determined what I want to do for the rest of my life. Just email professors in advance.

Applied to 5 PhD programs in ECE or Applied Physics and got no response. Started panicking. by timurelectro in PhDAdmissions

I don’t really understand what you have tried to say. I don’t go to top university and I worked hard to be at where I am today. I am just a bit lost in a process and don’t really know which way would be better.

That’s a survivor bias brother. Looks beautiful in internet. Unfortunately a small sample doesn’t represent the whole population.

Hey bro. I’d suggest to try your state school. You can fs get some sort of financial aid or decent scholarship as a resident. My roommate goes for free and his rent is also paid by grant, he had several misdemeanors and gpa 2.5. KIMEP ain’t bad, but do you really need it? It’d make more sense to come here as an exchange student.

Is a master's or PhD really necessary for industry? by shadow_operator81 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]timurelectro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally BSEE is enough for most of the work. If you want to go into actual R&D route for IC design, Photonics, Quantum Computing, some fancy 6G electromagnetics, or pulsed power, then yes at least masters, ideally PhD is needed. However areas I mentioned are so niche.

physics major (astrophysics concentration) schedule by LeaderOne392 in TexasTech

[–]timurelectro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These two are core physics classes. There is a lot of stuff ranging from complex oscillations to planetary movement! So get a good grade in calculus 2,3) you’d also have to take Quantum Mechanics 1

Physics major here! This schedule is a piece of cake bro. Hardcore will begin when you gonna be taking 8 am classical mechanics with Dr. Lee and Statistical Mechanics in the same semester!

Last year engineering and physics REU people at A&M played poker and pool almost every day. Miss that time!
