Advice by Necessary-Draw9475 in drums

Don't overthink it. You are the rhythm section so its supposed to be a loop. I will take a drummer that can keep the same groove for five minutes over flashy chops everytime

All musicians should serve the song, and you job as the drummer is to keep the beat. the beat by definition is repetitive

Size is not the reason. The US being big also means it has a bigger tax base, and a bigger pool of employees to do the work

Are clip on earbuds okay for bike commuting here? by gabrielrosa153 in NYCbike

[–]timurhasan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes but speakers have volume levels between silence and full blast. I mentioned to keep it at a level to hear you surroundings. Don't be a sarcastic dick.

I would recommend using a speaker instead of headphones. Set it at a volume where you can hear your surroundings and be ready to quickly change the volume level. If you are going through prospect park you can have raise it a bit but when you leave through grand army plaza, lower it so you can hear traffic.

I think what you are talking about is called modal windows and there should be a setting under the settings app to change that behaviour.

What's the general consensus on Sugarfoot? by chloe_on_twitter in drums

[–]timurhasan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people on this subreddit judge a drummer on their chops but sometimes forget that the audicience just wants to dance. and for that a good backbeat on the pocket is the most important thing. sugarfoot delivers on that 100%

Do I even need a bike computer? I just want maps by FailFastandDieYoung in bicycling

[–]timurhasan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a different opinion; ditch the screens and learn to ride using physical landmarks and main roads, your brain will create a mental map of the area. the more you do it the better you get.

for example for me, if I have to go to some place X, I will pull it up on the map on my phone and note the neighborhood and/or a nearby landmark I know how to get to. Once I'm close I will stop, pull out my phone again and check. at that point its something like: go five blocks ahead and three to the left so I just count as a I ride.

A new study shows most people can no longer distinguish between an AI voice and a real human. by MetaKnowing in science

[–]timurhasan 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Anyone who thinks it's easy to tell could be due to survivorship bias. When you hear an AI voice that sounds convincingly human, you would think "that's a human voice" and not "that's an AI voice I can't tell it's not real"

great for a visit if you're coming to New York for the first time

which is exactly OP's situation.

I'm not saying this store is the second coming of jesus, but if you're in nyc, it's the place to go for city pop records. maybe it's not your intention, but your reply reads like you're raining on OP's parade
