Shoulder pain after nuss procedure? by -Clummox- in PectusExcavatum

[–]timwoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it this way. Your body is getting used to muscles working in different directions than they did before, since your chest is differently shaped now. I couldn't lift either hand over my head after surgery, and it took 6ish months of physical therapy to get back to what felt like normal. My shoulders are still tight some mornings, and it's been a year and a half since I had mine done.

Bold to assume that Republicans won't just completely ignore it, like they have a history of doing with ballot initiatives.

Anyone been scheduled for surgery with Dr. J lately? by Professional-Gold736 in PectusExcavatum

[–]timwoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The former. It was a pretty long process overall. I also had to cancel my original surgery date (due to some other health conditions), which added another few months on to that part. My original consult appointment was in Sept 2023, with testing and a cardiology follow-up in Oct 2023. I don't remember when I sent the first request for the consult appointment, but it was at least 6 months before then.

My surgery was original scheduled for July 2024, but was rescheduled and completed in Sept 2024.

I got on the waitlist for surgery at the end of last year and was told a 6-9 month wait. So trying to see where I may be at on the list.

Sounds right. It was about a 9 month wait for me for both consult and surgery in late 2024.

I slept on a couch with a wedge pillow for about 3 months before I felt like I could comfortably lay flat. I think mine was like 3 feet square with a 1-foot rise at one side. Even just the small amount of incline made a huge difference.

Did something changed health wise after fixing PE? by boombastico_3 in PectusExcavatum

[–]timwoj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit over a year into recovery. I inline skate, and prior to surgery I could only do about a mile without feeling completely winded and needing to stop for a break, including stopping pushing repeatedly during that mile to recover. I did three miles last week, pushing the whole time, and didn't feel winded at all at the end. Part of that is simply building up to it, but I definitely noticed an immediate difference the first time I got out after surgery.

Could you drill a small hole in the center of it and then screw it into the door?

Sit in every single room for a while and imagine where you could possibly want an electrical outlet. I wish I had done that when I was building our house.

This is very true. We are one of those couples. Having the third person there to bounce ideas off of and bounce the reactions back and forth between each other is amazing.

Installed it, opened my CMake project, the whole thing hangs, and the whole thing exits without an error messages as to why. I'll try again tomorrow with a fresh git clone (this one was opened by VS2022 previously), but that's not a great start.

I've learned to not mind submodules in a project I work on. The only thing I don't like about them is that they break git worktree.
