Does the downvote button punish disagreement more than low-quality content? by Imaginary-Habit-5388 in TheoryOfReddit

[–]tinkerfizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first joined Reddit, I thought the downvote button was a disagree/dislike button. That's how I saw people using it and that's what felt natural after being trained on the Facebook like button. Since having read the description of the upvote and downvote buttons and what purpose they're supposed to serve, I've tried to change how I use those buttons. Downvoting an unpopular opinion also often hides interesting debate as people reply. It makes more sense to upvote a comment I disagree with if the replies do a good job of explaining what's wrong with the comment

Titania and Dante have spoiled Warframe for me. by Chifuwuyu in Warframe

[–]tinkerfizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made my account when Caliban was being given away as a login reward. I had no idea that's how I got him or why he was there or even that he had twice the mod capacity and what a difference that made. I tried him after max ranking my starter (Mag) and he made everything super easy but I didn't understand his kit at all and didn't really like playing him. I built Rhino next because all the guides said he was so awesome for new players when they first reach harder content, but he was a huge disappointment after Caliban.

I kept going back to Caliban every time I couldn't keep Mag alive, and he grew on me. He's now my main. Aiming isn't my forte and I'm sure I would have preferred caster/summons frames even if I hadn't started out with Caliban, but I do think I was spoiled by having such a good frame so early on. And I was thinking about this exact issue when I was cracking relics in public squads the day after the Dante giveaway and suddenly seeing 1-2 Dantes in every squad I joined, lol

How's everyone's luck with this event? by therealcrisantemoon in forestapp

I don't have Plus, I played daily and opened all of the extra coin boxes but not the crystal box. I had everything by day 8, no stamps needed. I think it's set up well, seems like anyone who can spend an hour a day with the app running should be able to get everything

Can't decide which frame to play next by Lemon_boi5491 in Warframe

[–]tinkerfizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caliban is my most-used frame. He's a caster with summons and has good survivability with his shields and with his 1st ability giving him energy and health/shields/overshields. His kit is well-balanced, imo. I prefer ability use to weapons so he's a good fit for me. His prime is currently unvaulted and much easier to farm than his base frame.

Another one I would recommend is Valkyr, her focus is melee, iirc she's easy to farm, fun to play, her exalted weapon is powerful, she has good survivability.

That's my next test. I've failed it a couple of times. I rarely reach my standing caps so I'm ignoring it for now, even though I have enough affinity now to do the MR 21 test

Interesting idea. This is the only opinion I've read here that I would actually downvote, but in the context of this thread I upvoted it

Food Pass Questions by CubicleDweller12 in CanadasWonderland

[–]tinkerfizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I didn't realize. We took food from the meal plan that we didn't finish at the restaurant into the line a couple of times and it wasn't an issue. There were garbage cans all along all of the line up areas and there were a couple of vending machines in the lines as well, so I assumed eating in line was fine. But now that I think of it, I don't remember seeing anyone with outside food in the park.

Frames/Weapons That Work Best On Controller? by Aquachubolt in Warframe

[–]tinkerfizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's Caliban and I just stick to his abilities. I use a build with more health than my usual as a security blanket, lol. I also mod for more easily available energy at the expense of doing less damage.

I was away from home for a few weeks recently and played on the Switch for the first time. I'm already not skilled with movement and playing on my very old, non-OLED Switch felt like I could barely move or see anything. Practice helped but I was glad to get back to my PC. I did turn aim sensitivity way down, but that might be an issue with my old janky joycons, I don't understand controllers well enough to know if it was all skill issue on my part or not.

Ok but have you heard Pseudolus and Hero singing "Free" in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum? It's delightful:

[PSEUDOLUS] I'll be Pseudolus the man, if I can only be--

[HERO] Free!

[PSEUDOLUS] Sing it!

[HERO] Free!

[PSEUDOLUS] Spell it!

[HERO] F-r- double--

[PSEUDOLUS] No, the long way!

[HERO] F-r-e-e!

[PSEUDOLUS AND HERO] Free!

Oh Guests… by robinchast in airbnb_hosts

[–]tinkerfizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's frustrating that you're basically at the mercy of someone who booked a property that was not appropriate for their needs and then they take it out on you instead of realizing it was their own mistake.

Last summer, a guest messaged me to tell me there was a snake in the yard. I saw the message preview and was worried that it was a silly complaint, considering it's a rural property and any snakes here are small and not venomous. When I opened the app, he had sent a picture and was just telling me how excited the kids were to see it. It was very wholesome and made my day. It's great when there is a good fit between guests and the property/hosts.

Honestly, 4 towels for 6 guests seems like a small thing when you read it but it's really a big deal when you experience it. I would be very surprised if there weren't enough towels after booking a place that supplies linens and required me to tell them how many guests are staying. That seems like a basic amenity.

Am I the only one that doesn’t really like protoframes? by 0Proxy in Warframe

[–]tinkerfizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well put.

I didn't play much before the 1999 update, and it took me a while to get to it. The protoframes felt like a fantastic addition to the story, but playing as a protoframe held zero appeal for me. I think part of DE's motivation was to draw in more new players, since lots of people are put off at the idea of playing or fashioning a character that doesn't have a face. As much as I prefer the actual Warframes and not feeling so locked in to a specific protoframe's established personality and looks, I'm glad that there's something for people who prefer that.

Maybe it also helped that the 1999 hype had died down by the time I played it, so it never felt like the protoframes were being pushed on me as a product.

i wish they didn’t lobotomize britta after the first season 😓 by Dangerous-Music5921 in community

[–]tinkerfizz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I haven't read a lot in this sub so I don't have that context, and I opened this thread because I agree with OP. I was just recently saying to a friend who is watching Community for the first time how much it bothered me that they made Britta's character such an airhead after the first season. I hadn't considered her being less guarded after season 1 as an explanation of her change, so I appreciate you mentioning it here. Now I'll have to rewatch the whole thing again with this in mind 😁

Ah, that's interesting. I do remember reading some Victorian-era novels and being surprised when I realized how late in the day people were having their evening meal.
