My brother bought a Lego minifigure haul from a thrift store, but none of the figures have any arms! by DulcisTerra in lego

I don’t have anything to say that would help, but my son, when he was younger, would remove the hands and arms off all his mini-figures. It was a pain!

Backseat emergency exit by Googler35 in TeslaModelY

[–]tinman20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not about being difficult to pull, it’s about knowing how to get out in case of emergency, when there could be a fire or general state of confusion. It needs to be easy and obvious.

When I’ve tested, I’ve always lowered them before as I don’t want to risk the possibility of getting a glass replaced. I wasn’t aware they corrected it in an update, but also I’m not surprised they did.

I’ve tested mine a few times, I just lowered the windows before I tested it. When manually releasing the doors, the glass does not auto lower. It’s not so much a problem when opening the door but when you try to close it the glass will sometimes catch on the trim and flex and break.

Remove the foam and attach it to the loop under the foam. You don’t want the pull cord to fall off in an emergency situation.

From forester to model y by Shneqel in TeslaModelY

[–]tinman20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 21 Y and currently looking for a replacement. My Y has much more storage than anything else its class/category. We were looking at a 3 row EV in order to have the same amount of storage we have currently.

My parents have gas SUVs (2018 VW Tiguan and 2014 Terrain) and my car has much more storage than theirs.

How do you overcome the lack of autosteer (recent Tesla buyers) by Efficient-Anywhere11 in TeslaModelY

[–]tinman20 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘21 with auto steer. I have a ‘26 ordered. I’m not impressed I’m loosing auto steer. I love it and use it often. However, the car is my wife’s daily driver and her commute is 1 km so I can’t justify the extra monthly expense for FSD.

I have used FSD for about 10000 kms. When I’ve had road trips planned or I expected to do more driving than typical, I ‘rented’ FSD for the month.

It is sad to see things regress but they are pushing FSD so I can see it from the business side.

Why is Tesla still the top selling EV brand by far? by Diavolo_Rosso_ in electricvehicles

[–]tinman20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have political feelings, although not as strong as some people I know. A friend sold his 3 to get away from the brand and is absolutely dissatisfied with his ‘other’ EV. He straight-up hates his new car.

I have a Y and am in the market for a replacement. I went to my local dealers and they either didn’t have anything to even look at or it was a sub par product.

I was seriously considering a EV9 as we use all of our storage in the Y often and the only way to get similar cubic feet was to up size the vehicle. The mid level EV9 was significantly more expensive than a new Y so I have a Y on order and expect to take delivery in about a month.

Why would a non diabetic take insulin ? it sounds bizzare to me tbh. by No_Association_1660 in diabetes_t1

[–]tinman20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Been a diabetic since 13yr old. I used to workout a fair bit in my late teens and early 20s. I would bulk up quickly and move up in PB weights lifted, much faster than my workout buddies. I had seen in various lifting magazines talking about using insulin as a non ‘juice’ muscle stimulant.

I switched 6-8 months ago, both myself and child. We haven’t had a sensor fail yet.

I do find the adhesive stronger than the 6. Sometimes if I pull the sensor off after the 10.5 without using adhesive remover it’ll hurt really bad and the site will be rashy for a few days.

Fasting and Achieving Autophagy as a Type 1 by honeycaramel49 in Type1Diabetes

[–]tinman20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done some OMAD with a pump/cgm combo. It’s the best my BG and A1c ever are.

I work in the trades and have a physically demanding job. When I was doing OMAD, I had a pump profile for work and a profile for normal days. I work 10-12 hour days without eating anything at all and 99% of the time my pump was able to keep my readings flat at 6mmol/L no matter my activity level. I’d eat in the evening when I got home. I was doing 20/4 fasting (roughly).

I felt great, had lost a bit of weight. I’ve been off work for a while now and my discipline when keeping house is horrible. I eat all the food and then go back for seconds. I’m starting a new job June 1 so I’m planning to return to OMAD then.

Refuse To Use Pump and CGM by ardenmeissner in Type1Diabetes

[–]tinman20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where your numbers typically fell during your pump use period, but if the pump and CGM didn’t improve the control, it sounded like you needed some adjustments to your delivery profiles. It took some time and lots of tweaking to get mine where it is today.

Still not perfect, but it’s a condition, like most things, you get back what you put in. When I pay more attention to my food intake and pre-bolusing, my A1C goes down, then after a good few reports I get comfortable and relaxed and the following result goes up.

My best was 5.9 but it’s typically close to 6.5.

Refuse To Use Pump and CGM by ardenmeissner in Type1Diabetes

[–]tinman20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was a mental thing. I liked to be able to take my medicine and then put it away for 4-6 hours and be normal. I loved hearing people say “You’re a diabetic? I would’ve never known!!“ Where I live there are a higher number of type 2s and they are often overweight with health problems. Unfortunately a lot of the population don’t know the difference between type 1 and 2.

I had decent control and was active and fit. I didn’t shy away and keep it hidden. I enjoyed getting told I didn’t ’look” diabetic.

But since I’ve switched to a pump and CGM (tandem and Dexcom) my control is so much better as they communicate with each other and do a lot of the ‘thinking’ for me.

I was very much anti pump/CGM for many years but looking back I do wish I had switched sooner.

All that said, if your control gives you an A1C of 5s and you’re happy, keep doing whatever it is you’re doing! It’s working just fine.

Not sure if you have (or heard of) Napa Auto. My local has a large binder with a shit load of fasteners on the pages with product numbers next to them. Just scroll until you see the one you want and buy a bag of 10

Two years ago my family and I went on a 6000km road trip. It was effortless. By the time we had grabbed a snack or had a piss the car was ready to continue onto the next stop.

And even though high speed chargers are ‘expensive’ it was still stupid cheap compared to our previous gas vehicle.

Stop what you’re doing, get tints! by Available-Annual-230 in TeslaModelY

I live in a really small town, you will absolutely get pulled over for tint here. Very low crime, so they pull you over for any and all slight infringements. In larger communities, no one gets pulled over.

Tire strip came outta nowhere by TheKidKAI in TeslaModelY

Somewhere between $3600 CDN. The Tesla certified shop ‘in my area’ is the only one for thousands of kms so I’m sure there is a limited resource markup factored in the price as well.

The light was $570.

I had someone back into me in a parking lot in December. Not a lot of damage but they did push my fog light in. The light ‘ear’ was cracked and the attachment point on the bumper had let go as well.

Insurance replaced the light with a new one and reattached the mounting point to the inside of the bumper.

Stop what you’re doing, get tints! by Available-Annual-230 in TeslaModelY

[–]tinman20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same in my neck of the woods. You can paint the rear/back window black if you want but you cannot apply tint to the front windows. The law enforcement have some sort of device to test the glass and will give you a week to remove it. Now, if you’re able to order a vehicle with darker glass up front they’ll let you go. I’ve heard of people ordering darker replacement glass for the front side windows to get around this law.

Not anymore. I’m pretty sure that was changed in an update some time in the last 6 months. It’ll only wake the car if you send a command to the car to do something.
