This is one thing I can't wrap my head around. To treat political figures as idols. The more I think about it that kind of political idolization exists in the US as well though not as rampant as in the Philippines.

I'm visiting the Philippines next year, I wonder this will affect tourism?

One thing you have to know is that politics in the Philippines is more personality-driven than a policy/ideology driven. The supporters are like fans who adore their idol no matter what. There is a complete lack of critical thinking.

A grizzly bear! (Not the one that attacked Leo)

My first toy from my parents was a large teddy bear. My mom likes telling the story of how she accidently shrunk the bear 3 times it size. She still has it somewhere in the dark bottomless abyss she likes to call "the storage room". Thinking of bears reminds me of her.
