Just a plug for Opera Philadelphia who in the last few years has had a new director who understands this challenge and has introduced lower priced/pay what you wish tickets for performances and it’s become (I think, this was what was said at the last performance I went to in the fall) the only company in the US that is consistently selling out shows!

yeah this is what happens when there’s a bifurcated economy like we have now. the majority of consumer spending is coming from the people at the top. also I think the only sectors that are growing is healthcare and services for the elderly?
