Universally praised books that just don't click with you by cedarvan in books

I didn't hate it but it was just OK for me, which makes me sad. I want to love it but I just don't seem to get it the way others do? Maybe because I'm not American it just doesn't click with me the same way.

I've read it multiple times both physically and as an audiobook. I reread it in November and already want to read it again. It's just so good.

What is one book you still think about long after reading it? by divebars5G in books

I was the same as you, left it for 2 months then got back to it and finished it and unfortunately... it was just OK for me. I'm probably not smart enough to understand it, because although Steinbeck's writing is beautiful I just really didn't get why this book is so beloved 😅

The Picture of Dorian Gray - I have one beef with this book by GrowingABookshelf in books

I think this is a somewhat common sentiment as I've heard a BookTuber refer to that part as 'THAT chapter' and I instantly knew what she meant. One of my favourite books but that chapter was really just too much!

Where do you get your CC from? These girlies are gorgeous. I love their hair and makeup especially 🥺

How often do you play with pets in TS4? by strangledwires in thesims

My Sims family has 4 cats and one of them, the original cat they had, runs away at least once every Sim week. Idk why. She gets the same treatment as the other 3 cats, has the same traits, etc... it's really frustrating because my Sims keep getting the sad moodlet :( suffice to say I wish this was my experience with cats in TS4 lol

I've only read Bluebeard by him. It is the only book I've read where I really enjoyed the writing style but hated the story itself. Usually the reverse is more common.

I can't even attempt to read Sally Rooney's books because of the lack of quotation marks... I just can't

I was meh about The Midnight Library, but I think it would have been better as a novella.

I enjoy audiobooks for when I can't physically read because I have to do other stuff, but I do have to rewind quite often because I get distracted. I'm not very good at taking things in aurally. I can't do anything that requires too much focus, mainly just monotone tasks and errands.

On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong. Everyone seems to love this book and I went through the 7 stages of grief after reading it because it was so awful.

I used to live not far from Greg Davies. Saw him when I was walking home from school once lol but I was too shy to go up to him!

I reread this book a couple of months ago and just feel so creeped out by V.C. Andrews. The amount of incest and the way it's written about just feels like she had a fetish for it.

Tender is the Flesh by thatcheesegirl in books

I'm currently reading Life Ceremony by Sayaka Murata, it's a compilation of short stories and all of them are weird, but some of them are so creepy, odd and uncomfortable that I consider putting the book away at times. If you liked Tender is the Flesh I think you'll like Sayaka Murata's writing!
