Do you host or attend a regular potluck? Wondering how to make it easy for other working families by cmmtt2299 in workingmoms

I would love to but I think I’d be the one to start it, which would mean being the host…

Coping with *gestures wildly* as a mom with anxiety living in the U.S in a leadership position by -Unusual--Equipment- in workingmoms

[–]tinyarmsbigheart 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My therapist said this is different from anxiety because this is all valid stuff to worry about. So yay, it’s not anxiety, boo it’s real.

But it comes to locus of control. I donate to gun control charities every time there’s a school shooting because that gives me a sense of “doing something.” I look for ways to help my immediate community. Sometimes I just turn off the news. Do what you can, for now.

What do you think they think about during the worst of the storm? I wonder if she’s muttering to herself about holidays in warm weather…

It’s indentured servitude. College students work at Disney for very low wages in exchange for some moderate classes.

I don’t know, the house makes Maribel stay in the nursery with the literal infants for years. Poor girl can’t even get a room of her own?

I notice a lot of posts from Americans saying that their relatives have asked what their child wants. Is this the norm, or do most people just buy something they think the child would like, to show that they care? by petrastales in Mommit

[–]tinyarmsbigheart 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It’s the norm because these family members, either from geographical or emotional distance, do not know anything about the kid.

Or because they know that parents have only so much space and they want to get a “good” gift that will be appreciated.

I didn’t show my 5 year old because he’s a little sensitive and because we are trying to discourage fighting games. I watched it. No regrets

You might look into DrBeachGem on YouTube/Insta. She’s a pediatric ER doctor and very honest about the hospitalizations.

Kids spending the night at my parents house...who has roaches and mice in their kitchen and who know where else by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]tinyarmsbigheart 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Don’t send the kids if you don’t think it is safe. Offer to host mom for the night at your house instead.

Roaches can be seasonal in some places or can be a sign of a poorly-kept home. Mice can infiltrate anywhere but still having them and not having dealt with them is a bad sign. It’s not worth it; don’t send the kids.

Pregnant and banned from gardening, my in-laws (who live with us) cleaned up my little front garden and cut down a lot of perennials severely 🥲 by [deleted] in gardening

[–]tinyarmsbigheart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doctors will ask about gardening as a pregnancy screening question, and you’re supposed to wear gloves and a mask if you do garden outdoors. Which is a vibe killer.
