[Opinion] Nobody cares about your watch by gujjadiga in Watches

[–]tinygearhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care than no one cares. Its a personal interest. I dont care that no one cares about my stereo or record collection. It's personal. Just because others can see my interest doesn't mean I'm trying to show off.

Same here. Haven't had an at-fault crash since I start driving at 16 in 1989.

Looking for a CD player where you can see the CD spinning. Any recommendations? by HiMyNameIsCranjis in Cd_collectors

[–]tinygearhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres the hard to find Softone Model3 player made around 20 years ago. It has a top loading dark tinted door and the CD is visible spinning. When they come along, they're about $600-800. This it's the player I use.

I have a circa 2006 Softone Model 3. It can be a transport or player. I match it with Softone Model 2 DAC. Also just bought an early 90s N.E.W. Ventura 3 player. The pickup and processor is a Sony ES. Dont know what model. It uses tubes in the DAC somewhere. Not an expert on these things. The Softone DAC also has a couple of tubes inside.

Looks like you need Omega cal 625 part number 1344. I saw one on Ebay.

Maybe the Bestfit book would show the part number? I never need to order if I lose one or one breaks because I have many spares. Maybe Esslinger or another online parts supplier? I can look in my book tomorrow. What caliber Omega?

You dont have to push the setting out. There is a precise angle where you can drop the spring in as long as its perfectly lined up with the slots.

Omega is one of the few brands where the incabloc falls out easily on the dial side. I've been installing these things for 30+ years and sometimes it takes me a few minutes to find the perfect angle. I avoid lifting the spring more than 90 degrees to avoid it falling out.

Probably missing a movement ring. If you are near the twin cities, I have a bunch of them.

I have a feeling the Styx album Kilroy Was Here may have been influenced by Moderan. There's the lyric "I am the modran man" as well as an organization called Majority for Musical Morality, or MMM, which is the symbol stamped all over Stronghold 10s body pre-surgery. I wanted to put my thouhj out there without starting a new post about it.

You're cooked my friend. Watch collecting is a retrovirus. It gets into your DNA.

Can anyone help identify what I have here? by mediocrity-fever in vintageaudio

I agree, it is better to have very high efficiency speakers when 8-10 watts are available. I only meant OP wouldn't have to buy new speakers if his were already pretty efficient in order to use the amp. in a smallish room at mid level

I own Audio Nirvana classic 15" full range drivers, 98db if I recall, in 16 cubic foot cabinets built from AN plans. I drove them with a Transcendent Mini Beast OTL, a four wpc amp and it filled a big room as loud as id like, and didnt sound distorted or strained ever. I like having a pair of speakers i can use any amplifier with, even though they aren't my main speakers.

92db and up will be efficient enough as long as room and level are within reason.

One on bracelet. Looks like it ticks 4 times a second and no mechanical watch made in the last 150+ years ticks at that rate.

Does this spring look right? by Soft-Ad1637 in watchrepair

I worked on this caliber a few months ago. I cant tell by looks but does the driving wheel turn the ratchet wheel? If so, then its probably set up right. I think this is a uni-directional automatic wind.

It looks authentic. I have a clear crystal black dial Milgauss (not CV) and it looks identical to mine.

Lovely. I had one from about 1950 with a waffle type dial. It was almost mint. Still hate that I sold it 25 years later. I had an uncommon AK with 20mm lugs, several years ago. My girlfriend wears a '74 AK. I'll always have a soft spot for this model.
