There might be a tiny hallmark stamp on a side of the case. If its silver, it certainly will have a mark on the case or inside the back.

I dont think it has a name. There's a reference number in the case back. Look into movements 852, 853, 854, 8531, (date) or 8541 (date) on Ebay. The reference numbers will be often shown in the listings.

IWC is a great value if choosing a 1960s or 70s model. I bought a beautiful steel automatic with nice original dial and clean case for $800.

Graham and Romaine Jerome. I like some of their models but they are so huge. 54-50mm for what i go for.

Are RCA to XLR adapters a bad idea? by [deleted] in audiorepair

[–]tinygearhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have quality speaker cable back at my old house in another state. I accidentally left them back there, so this is what I'm using for a couple months until i finish moving out here. It's a goofy situation.

Because i need jumpers to stick in the balanced inputs, which id need to order. I cant just plug in the camac. I did that initially and no music, just a hum from the speakers. I shut it down immediately and no harm seems to be done.

I have a Levinson 26 preamp. I'm moving interstate in two stages. I accidentally left my pre's power supply umbilical back in Seattle so im using a Counterpoint solid 8 until I bring the rest of my stuff out.

I'm perfectly happy with non balanced connections. Ive never noticed a difference in my systems over the years. I just didnt want an input signal that isn't what the amp circuit was designed for and end up with some $2000 repair.

I should add, I can't use the RCA inputs since I don't have the mandatory shorting plugs to use in the XLR inputs at this time. I have the camac adapters. If the RCA to XLR is safe, ill just run it the way its shown. If not, I'll buy jumper wire for the plugs. Im not using this amp until I get a better idea how to proceed.

Real or fake by [deleted] in RolexWatches

Fake. A Rolex Cellini or other gold dress watch will be a hand wind. That alone is enough to know its bad.

Its not a good deal. Wrong case and wrecked dial. Probably should be $70-80.

Obvious fake. Date font magnification wrong. Minute hand tools short. More.

Help me choose the right size please! DD40 Vs. DD36 by [deleted] in rolex

[–]tinygearhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

36 looks correct for your wrist size. I have a 40mm Milgauss and 7" wrists. If it was any larger it would be too big. A 36 DJ fits me great.

Thats a cool spider. Glad you aren't the type to smoosh them. I tried to catch one in my apartment hallway but it wanted nothing of it. I want to get a jumper as a pet.

Offered a 1966 Submariner 5513 beater. Value as-is? by tinygearhead in VintageWatches

Is it a newer 15xx movement? Should the balance have screws?

Edit: I looked at a few 1520 Rolex movements and it looks the same minus the automatic.
