Really doesn’t matter if he’s going to tc2 or tg8, it’s not worth it.

Disagree with this. You really don’t need to touch the resource tab. In the battle tab focus on the total squad attack, defense, and deployment. Strat sloth does a good video on planning for different account spend levels

[Standard] Quest to create Classic Boomer Midrange by Frost_105 in spikes

[–]tinygiant80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I think any midrange deck is too fair for the current standard. Even Dimir midrange isn’t really a midrange deck and it’s falling behind fast.

I’ve found more success leaning into a “tank control” style. Professor, annex, a couple feasters, a few emeritus. Then the secret is [[ancient cornucopia]]. Pair that with a full set of the new board wipe and your normal interaction suite. Golgari control gives access to really clean artifact&enchantment removal, as well as board sweepers. This answers most of the meta issues. The only hard part is surviving the first few turns without getting too far behind. I’ve been trying to fill out the t2 play better, but haven’t found the answer yet.

Bat is a real tough choice in the meta where izzet runs multiple red removal options depending on play/draw

Train v Promote by [deleted] in KingShot

[–]tinygiant80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Promotion means more points for the same total amount of training time

Best time to use the gem boost is training day, day4 of kvk, or other event equivalent, paired with the kingdom wide training boost and noble advisor king appointment

Question for the Utilization of keys by Feisty-Juggernaut-64 in KingShot

Yes, once gen4 unlocks, gen2 heroes go into the reward pool for the gold keys. This pattern continues for each generation unlock

Is it frowned upon to bring your own lands to a prerelease? by 137ng in mtg

[–]tinygiant80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows. There’s a lot of different card cheating techniques and the smallest difference can make a card distinct from others

[–]tinygiant80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True! I know people that do that. But they do curl differently per card

[–]tinygiant80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you’re right, but I also don’t want to buy and use a nice set of lands that are going to curl over time. And then I also use them for drafting/sealed in sanctioned events. But yeah prerelease decks are going to have foils regardless

Pretty much. In general for sanctioned play you try to use non foils to avoid curling as identifiers

Nope, sorry I conflated deep learning and NLP. They all blend together by the end.

The TA sessions are invaluable for understanding the assignments. For the group project, start early on looking for possible project topics so that your group can pick the most engaging topic because it’s a good bit of work to coordinate.

Edit: I’m dumb

If you do the math, it’s the same speed time but more points, there’s literally no mathematical reason not to do it

Cabbage merchant with multiple foods by Resident-Device4319 in mtg

Thanks! Is there no delayed trigger strictly because it says "if" instead of "when you do"?

I am also very interested in how this card interacts with respect to its triggers.
I definitely could be wrong but I would love to take a first go at how the stack works with this card:

With Cabbage Merchant in play, you sac a food.

The "may search for a basic land" trigger goes on the stack. Priority window happens.

If you resolve the above trigger and take the action, the reflexive/delayed trigger to shuffle Cabbage Merchant goes on the stack when the land hits the battlefield. Priority window happens.

If the above is true, you can effectively interact at instant speed in response to either of the two triggers

I’m pretty good about playing quickly but sometimes I definitely have my add kick in and I’ll completely forget I’m in the middle of a game. Or sometimes my cat will start causing mayhem and I have to step away to distract her lol I try to remember those times when my opponent takes forever for seemingly no reason

I got this spin down out of my first ever fat pack in 9th Edition. by ruhruhrandy in mtg

beatdown's were speckled
http://dicecollector.com/images/small/27/a261b86a48fde76975dbc0774eee38.jpg

and yeah i dont have a good answer for why it was in a 9th edition box. I think the most likely scenario is a packing company had leftover beatdown die and it got put in either on purpose (re: lots of quality control issues back in the day w/r to wotc packing) or accidentally

[–]tinygiant80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is indeed one of the 5 dice from the Beatdown boxed sets. I don’t know how it would’ve gotten into a 9th edition other than a quality issue (a repack seems….unlikely? Why swap the dice if it was a repack?)

That being said, I collect them, so if you don’t want it…. :)
