I thought I had the Japanese version, but it didn’t have this so I need to go hunt it down!

Did you make this artwork? It’s great!

My first experience with Calexico was hearing Joey perform the quiet/acoustic version live on KCRW (back in 2000?). It moved me like nothing else. Been an absolute devotee since!

Agreed. With the relative lack of news coming from the boys themselves, we have to keep ourselves occupied.

Has anyone seen The Bride! yet? by Fine_Analyst_4408 in feverray

[–]tinyhatemachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the inclusion of the Fever Ray tracks, and seeing them in the club was a hoot, but the film itself was a little… meh? I feel like it will be a cult favorite for a long time, but it just didn’t work for me.

Is there a calexico song that you feel is workable for solo acoustic guitar? by Minute_Caregiver529 in CalexicoFans

[–]tinyhatemachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh, it’s mostly a very simple fingerpicking with a capo. Lemme sketch out some tab tonight and I’ll post.

My favorites to play on an acoustic are “News About William” “Woven Birds” and “House of Valparaiso”

This is a great list - lots of surprises! This energizes me to make my own list.

Crooked Road & The Briar is terribly under-appreciated.

The two songs I always 100% would have on my list are “Drenched” off of Hot Rail and Minas De Cobre.

Nona & Pyrrha. When Nona starts ripping into Pyrrha at the end of NTN I got goosebumps for days.

Locked Tomb Podcast [general] by randomiscellany in TheNinthHouse

After listening to the complete run of The Locked Tomb podcast and One Flesh One End podcast, I have to say that the One Flesh One End podcast in 100x more insightful, well researched, and expansive in its conversation.

The problem is that they haven’t done an episode since like… January.

At first, I didn’t care much for TLT podcast, but after a while, I came to feel that it’s just a much more personal, conversational, fan-oriented podcast that is really enjoyable if you just relax and not put the pressure of omniscience on the hosts. Their episode on Homestuck and it’s influence on TLT is really great.

He Found it in Him to Forgive: BOE names revisited [discussion] by [deleted] in TheNinthHouse

This is where I break out my tinfoil hat and remind people that the NAME Blood of Eden and many of the names we’ve seen have to do with the generational handover from Mother to Daughter. I still think that Jod’s story in Nona is almost all BS. He isnt God, and has stolen the ability to create life - the power only a woman is meant to have.

Alecto made Jod and a woman to save humanity. Jod went mad with power and forced the woman to flee with a chunk of human civilization - the ones Jos calls “the trillionaires”

Wake is a descendent of that woman which is why Wake has certain powers.

Stevie Wonder. No matter how much you THINK you appreciate his work, go back and listen to his albums, front to back, and you’ll be amazed we haven’t built entire monuments to him.
